dear QL'ers,

i wish to know how is gratuity calculated in Qatar Government/Authority offices.

the knowledge i have is that, it should be.......
(number of years worked) x (last basic salary)

date of joined- 2001

it is computed at the last basic salary you're receiving. 1 month basic salary per year of service up to a maximum of 10 years. hope this helps :)
For ESB calculation, the maximum of 10 years has already been waived meaning you can now work without any limitation of number of years. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going....
basic salary x 12months / 365days x total no. of days worked = total gratuity...this computation is based on my previous employer.
Actually the payment is 3 weeks for every year worked, not a month. The Labour Law changed in 2004, previously there was a sliding scale whereby you got more payment for every year that you worked (and the payment was based on full salary not just basic). If you get your hands on the old law you could arugue to your employer that the previous law applied up until January 2005 when the current law was enacted. Worth a shot. Tresgandas your calculation would come out to be the total salary paid, not the EOSB amount.
Heartless is right.. it is only 3 weeks pay.. my company gives that to us annually.. i guess it is easier for them than giving us one lump sum after we terminate our employment...
And its also cheaper for them, because they give it at the salary you are making at that time rather than the salary when they pay it at the end of your contract with them. you might have been promoted etc.
Heartless, that labour law requires the EoSB to be calculated on the basis of the last wages paid, which means if you started at QR 100 and are now getting paid QR500/ your EoSB will be on the basis of QR 500/-
JB, I am coming across this practice of paying EoSB at the end of every year for the first time, rather strange.
Does the 3 weeks per year payment stay the same or increase by years? For example, after 5 years would you receive a 3 week gratuity or a 15 week gratuity? If it is the later, how do companies or schools afford this?
DC-Jaz - You would receive a 3 week bonus for every year you worked. So if you had worked 5 years you'd get 15 weeks bonus. This assumes the company are paying the bonus at the end of service as they're supposed to, not at the end of each year of service.
Gratuity as per Qatar Labor Law is 3 weeks last drawn basic salary per year..
This Gratuity Calculation is only base in Qatar Country (Basic Salary Per Month) Divide into 30(number of days in month) X 21 Days = 1 Year Gratuity Bunos Like for example: If your working for 5 years and your basic salary is 4,500 Qatar Riyals then this is the computation In Qatari Law, 1 year end of service will be payed 21days salary. Basically this how it goes. 4500 Qatari Riyals(salary per month) divide into 30(days in a month)= 150QR X 21days(1 year end of service gratuity)= 3,150 Qatari Riyals 3,150 Qatari Riyals X 5(years you work)= 15,750 (Your Gratuity in 5 years if your salary is 15,750 Qatari Riyals) Thanks...
As per Qatar labour law, minimum gratuity to be paid by a campany is three weeks for each year worked. However, some government companies (Oil & Gas) also pay one month salary for each year worked. YOu have to see your employment contract to verify. If it is written "as per Qatar Labour Laws" then you will get 3 weeks. Gratuity is calculated on the basis of last drawn basic salary. Could you please tell that the anual leave period will be deduct from service years or not. Suppose i m working 15 years and i was on leave for 1 year 8 months in this service period. Now i will receive gratuity for 15 years or 13 years 4 months. Thanks
It was informed that this rule came into existence in 2005. So my question is if an employee is working in the org say from 2000 and he is quiting in 2009. So the end of service benefit is calculated from 2000 or from 2005 as the law came into existence only in that year....... also i was told that, the law has given option for the companies to choose in the above case whether to give from 2000 or from 2005. now that doesnt make sense for me.....because if its an end of service benefit he should get benefit from the date of joining, even though the law came into existence in 2005...... kindly correct me if am wrong/......also do let me know the source of the law articles if possible....am in search for the same.................. annul leave has to be deducted.....its calculated only for the days you have worked.......
End of service calculation for those who is ending their service within 5 years is calculated 21 days basic salary per year. More than 5 years if you are working it will be calculated as 28 days basic salary per year.
the number of days per annum depends on your contract, but as per the qatar law should not be less than 21 days per year of service. as far as i know, the leave days is not deducted from the total years of service in computing your gratuity. you may have not worked during these leave days but it is a benefit given to an employee, and during your leave period you are an employee of the company and is assumed working during those leave days.
this is our computation: his only working for 1 year in our company.. sample: basic salary 1800/30 days X 7 no. of days work= 420.00 Benifits for 1 year (end of contract)1800/30 days X 21 days = 1,260.00 Vacation w/ pay (1800/30 days x 21 days =1,260.00 TOTAL 2,940.00 tAKE NOTE THAT 21 DAYS IS BASED ON QATAR LABOR CODE. 7 days depend on how many days you work after your payday. hope it helps.. 1. Monthly Salary- entitled until the last day of work 2. Remaining Annual Leave amount 3. Gratuity not less than 3 weeks pay/per year of service. also the fractions of the year should be computed after 1 year service (for example 8 years, 6 months, 15 days =179 days) 4. Ticket - sometimes it is included if ticket entitlement was not consumed.(depends on company) or if u finished ur contract & ur going home, they will shoulder your repatriation ticket. temper is something u cant get rid of... by loosing it...
IS this Labour Law to every labour ??? i mean to say for carpentry workshop , garage or others labours ??/ the companies which can't b afford every year for labours bonus and tickets...
Im presently working in Doha and my visa is going to expire on April 30, 2010 with two years of Service. I have taken one vacation in December 2009 with 1month leave salary and Qr.2000/- as a loan from Company and came back here in Mid February 2010. My monthly salary is Qr. 1500/- since last one-and-a-half years. I want to know 2 things : 1. Will my company is going to bear mywill pay my ticket? 2. Do I get anyother benifits from company after 2yrs of service? Please somebody let me know with accurate information. Coz, my company is well skilled when it comes to take away benifits from workers. im working as security in my company in 7yrs my bisic saraly is QR650 for 8hrs but im working 12hrs daily so that i reiceve QR1200 a month but now i want to resign then i just want to know how to calculate my gratuity on the basic or in the present salary b'coz i hear the law was chance in 2004 pls help me thanks 2 all?

thanks for ur clear answer, at the same time i want know one more thing about gratuity,my basic salary was 1100.00 in 2005, after 2 yrs i got increase as 1500 .00but my salary increased like basic salary - 1100, accomodation -  400 ( total - 1500.00) but overtime calculation is being from 1500.00. so , how is the calculation for my gratuity?

is it legal to include gratuity in the basic salary?on my instance i'm receiving QR.4000 including QR.100 as my gratuity and QR.100 as a leave pay every month and they force me to sign that on my employment contract.my problem is that QR.1200 per year as gratuity is too small.please do advice.
