From Pakistan to France with Love

ISLAMABAD -- At a time when almost all the countries have issued strict travel advisory against traveling to violence-hacked Pakistan a French doctor is championing a personal mission to show the "real" face of this South Asian Muslim country not only to his countrymen, but the entire West.
"Pakistan is a misunderstood country in the western world, where people think there is nothing except suicide bombings and terrorists attacks," DR Vincent Loos told IslamOnline.net in an exclusive interview.

Loos, an intensive care specialist, has just finished his three-year work at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.

He has decided to drive his way to his home country in a 25-year-old Volkswagen Beetle, commonly known as "Foxy Shahzadi", which is painted in an explosion of trippy colors.

Iran says that its uranium is for peaceful purposes, being the generation of domestic electricity.
Odd thing though,,,,Iran has no domestic nucleur reactors to produce domestic electricity.

New movie spares the Kaaba from destruction

"When I interviewed director Roland Emmerich a few months ago about his upcoming disaster flick "2012," the first question I asked was, "Why do you like killing the world?" His response: "It makes for a good story."

Over the past fifteen years, Emmerich has crafted some great tales about global doom, featuring some spectacular scenes of destruction. He had aliens zap the White House in "Independence Day," he let a massive lizard flatten New York City in "Godzilla," and he sent killer tornadoes through downtown Los Angeles in "The Day After Tomorrow."

Quake injures 700 in southern Iran

An earthquake struck southern Iran's Hormozgan province early Wednesday, injuring about 700 people, state-run media reported.

Frightened residents of the port city of Bandar Abbas poured into the streets after the 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck at 2:56 a.m. (6:26 p.m. ET Tuesday), Iran's Press TV said.

No deaths were reported.

Last year, a strong earthquake measuring 6.1 in magnitude struck Hormozgan, demolishing nearly 200 villages and killing at least six people.

Iran lies on a series of seismic fault lines and has experienced devastating earthquakes -- most notably in December 2003 when a 6.6 magnitude quake devastated the ancient city of Bam in southeast Iran, killing at least 30,000 people.

Iraqi insurgents launch boy band

With the west rapidly losing interest in Iraq with the afghans taking over, Insurgents in Iraq have launched a fightback. To grab the west's attention a boy band is in order. Trouble started early on over the name, first suggestion was The Martyrs of Funk but local al Qaedar deemed that a bit tacky and wanted to go with Kill em All. A compromise was reached and sunny garden was selected.

The new members are Tom, Luke, Mathew and Diggerdee as Muslim names didn't go down too well with the 13-25 female demographic. The first single 'bombs over Baghdad, love in my heart' will be released on friday.

The band list their interests as girls, music, girls, thinking about suicide, their mothers and shout out verses of the koran loudly to scare white people.

Iranian-American academic gets 12y in unrest

TEHRAN, Iran – Iran ignored appeals by Hillary Rodham Clinton and even rock star Sting and sentenced an Iranian-American academic to 12 years in prison Tuesday for his alleged role in anti-government protests after the country's disputed presidential election.

The sentence for Kian Tajbakhsh was the longest prison term yet in a mass trial of more than 100 opposition figures, activists and journalists in the postelection turmoil.

At the same time, Iran allowed another defendant to leave the country — Canadian-Iranian Maziar Bahari, a Newsweek journalist arrested in the same crackdown who had been freed on bail over the weekend.
