TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION

I bought a Corolla 2002 Model ( 1.8 XLI Full Automatic)three months back. Since 02 weeks there is a sound coming from the gear. I changed the Gear oil and the filter. It does not work. Now I can drive the car but with O/D switch in OFF mode. Otherwise it will not accelerate.
Any ideas what could be the trouble. I took an appointment at Toyota but they says only after the EID holidays they can fix it. Can you suggest any good mechanic who works on Automatic Gear ( Toyota Vehicles).

I've been thinking to buy a used car for one of those manufacturers.

I know Toyota and Nissan have the best after sale service here in Qatar but I'm currently have an interest to non Japanese cars.

Which small cars (the like of Toyota Yaris, Nissan Tiida, Mitsubishi Swift etc) would you recommend to buy in term of the reliability, safety (anything with more than 2 airbags?), resale value ?

I have a small family and can not morally justify buying a big SUV.
