It's official! Fox STAR Studios, 20th Century Fox International and Fox Searchlight Pictures have announced that MY NAME IS KHAN, the highly anticipated film from director Karan Johar and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, will open in theaters in India and over 40 countries including the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and the Middle East on Valentine's Day weekend [February 12, 2010]. Other remaining territories will release in early spring/summer 2010.

Is it safe to come out yet? Have the heart-shaped balloons sagged and floated away? Have the cheap champagne bottles rolled under the sofa?

Has the red viscose seduction wear fallen to the floor to be forgotten? Is Valentine's Day really over for yet another year?

Can I crawl out from under the bed? Every year I approach Valentine's Day with peculiar dread.

I spend most of the day with a towel over my mouth, so I won't be sick.

KUALA LUMPUR: Each day of the last three years has been Valentine's Day for a Malaysian couple — she is aged 106 years while her husband is just 37.

When Muhammad Noor Che Musa and Wok Kundor tied the knot over three years ago, nobody gave their marriage much of a chance.

Now, the couple, who reside in Kampung Tok Bak near Kuala Terrenganu, have surprised many by staying happily married and proving that love conquers all, the New Straits Times said on Saturday.

The couple admitted they were not too familiar with Valentine's Day but said if it meant a day for professing love for one another, then every day of the past three years has been Valentine's for them.

Right-wing Hindu activists Thursday were beating young couples in India's northern Uttar Pradesh during Valentine's Day protests across the country, news reports said. Police told that activists from the Hindu hardline Shiv Sena group beat up couples in a public park in Bareilly town and made girls hold their ears and apologize for celebrating Valentine's Day.

Shiv Sena said it was holding protests across the country against Valentine's Day celebrations which were against Indian culture and had a "corrupting influence" on Indian youth.

Getting a gift on Valentine's Day makes one feel very special, that too getting thousands of gift will make one float in air. But if one gets thousands of pink panties, that too soiled ones, as gift, what kind of feeling would he have?

This is the question to be asked to Ram Sena chief Pramod Mutalik on the eve of the Valentine's Day.

This year the Day is not just going to be a day to celebrate love in India, but would also mark one of its kind protests in the history.

'Pink Chaddi (Panties) campaign', an online protest on Facebook, formed by a group of women against the recent attack in Mangalore, allegedly by Ram Sena, on the pub going women.

As the name suggests, the campaign's motto is to gift pink panties, to Pramod Mutalik, marking their love for him

I don't need to fib about it -- I'm kinda melancholic for several days now. Valentine's Day is like the Super Bowl for dating bloggers.

But I can’t really decide on an angle: play the bitter card? I certainly have good reason - not only am I currently single, I haven't had a proper date on Feb. 14 since 2006, and that was with an ex that disappeared from the face of the earth (he's still alive, somewhere..lol)

Or, I could also go the apathetic route and MOPE that V-Day is just another Hallmark holiday capitalizing on our bourgeois delusions about romantic love (which happen to be true).

I heard about Valentine’s Day through the media, but I always need someone to remind me on which day of the year it falls. I have also heard of how it is celebrated in the West, in a way that goes against our culture and traditions.
I know for example that you buy the person you love a gift on this specific day, but I don’t understand why this shouldn’t be the case all the year round. Love, by the way, can be expressed by other means rather than presenting gifts on one day of the year.
I want to be a loving and beloved husband, father, son, and brother each day of my life and it would be a mistake if we specify one day for that otherwise you are actually giving love a social value.
