WASHINGTON: Pakistani-American terrorist David Headley aka Daood Gilani has avoided extradition to India and a possible death sentence in the Mumbai terror case, but New Delhi can access him in the United States under a plea bargain he has reached with US federal authorities.

Shacked and wearing an orange prison jump suit, Headley, 49, pled guilty on Thursday to 12-count indictment in a Chicago court. But a plea deal reached with federal authorities states that Headley "must... when directed by the United States Attorney's Office ...fully and truthfully testify in any foreign judicial proceedings held in the United States by way of deposition, video-conferencing or letters rogatory."

Washington DC will become the first city in the US to make female condoms available for free
The contraceptives will be handed out in beauty salons, convenience stores and high schools.
Female condoms have been on sale since 1993 but take-up has been slow.
The initial version of the contraceptive was judged by US customers to be too expensive.
However, a new version now being used in countries including South Africa, Brazil, and Indonesia will be distributed in Washington DC and offered for sale in pharmacies alongside male condoms.....

Lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) individuals, who live in states that instituted bans on same-sex marriage are more at risk of developing psychiatric disorders, according to a new study.
It found an increase in psychiatric disorders among the LGB population living in states that instituted bans on same-sex marriage.
During the 2004 election and soon after, the authors note, 14 states approved constitutional amendments restricting marriage to unions between heterosexual couples.

The study was published in the March issue of the American Journal of Public Health. (ANI)

DETROIT – A Northwest Airlines passenger from Nigeria, who said he was acting on al-Qaida's instructions, set off an explosive device Friday in a failed terrorist attack on the plane as it was landing in Detroit, federal officials said.
