Briton providing free healthcare in USA!

Mr Brock, originally from Preston, Lancs, has set up his mobile clinic in the city for the first time after spending almost 25 years taking volunteer doctors and dentists to care for the poor in Third World countries.

Such is the popularity of his clinic, attracting up to 1,500 people a day who begin queuing at dawn, that hundreds have been turned away every day this week as the volunteers struggle to cope with the demand for free treatment.

"There are about 49 million people who don't have access to the care they need. They simply can't afford it," said Mr Brock.

Lockerbie Bomber release; What do you think?

It appears the Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi is very close to being released. The US is pressuring the UK to prevent it, but the UK has business interests in Libya that may hinge on his release. Mergrahi is serving life with a minimum of 27 years after being convicted in 2001 of the 1988 bombing on board a Pan Am flight 103 which killed 270 people (the overwhelming majority being Americans). I don't really think the US has the right to interfere in a legal matter outside our borders, but I'm surprised that the Scottish courts and UK government are considering letting him go.

To fill you in on the horror of his crime consider:

RoboCop (1987)

Part man. Part machine. All cop.

Stars: Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, etc.

Directed by Paul Verhoeven

In a not-so-distant future of Detroit, Michigan, a police officer was brutally killed by an highly-organized crime syndicate. His body was mechanically repaired through a fund raised by the city's biggest corporate and turned him into the ultimate law enforcer of fighting crime in the city streets.

I like making the Qatari drivers mad

When I'm driving and a Qatari guy is behind in his Landcruiser flashing his lights, I refuse to move to the right. He can get mad all he wants but we are going to share the road. If he wants to get around, go to the right and pass me. Sometimes when he does merge to the right, I will speed up so he cant get in front of me. In the US, we dont play that flashing the lights crap. Come to Detroit or Houston and you have another thing coming if you flash your lights. You Qatari drivers dont scare me and you dont own the road! Screw that. Im staying in the far left lane and Im not moving.

Jeremy Clarkson’s latest column in the Sunday

Jeremy Clarkson’s latest column in the Sunday Times in England.

I had to share.

"I dare you to visit Johannesburg, the city for softies
It’s the least frightening place on earth, yet everyone speaks of how many times they’ve been killed that day"
Jeremy Clarkson

Every city needs a snappy one-word handle to pull in the tourists and the investors. So, when you think of Paris, you think of love; when you think of New York, you think of shopping; and when you think of London – despite the best efforts of new Labour to steer you in the direction of Darcus Howe – you think of beefeaters and Mrs Queen.

Hall of Fame opens its doors to greatest ever

Michael Jordan delivered the blueprint for the modern, iconic athlete. He didn’t just transcend basketball, but American sport. Tiger Woods gets compared far more with Jordan than he does Jack Nicklaus. Basketball hasn’t been alone searching for the next Jordan. As it turns out, so is everything else that uses a scoreboard.

Jordan taught sports how to pursue championships with ferocity and flair, style and grace. He always treated Sacramento in February like he did Madison Square Garden in the playoffs. Jordan was an industry, a movement, a happening. As much as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James chase each other, they also chase Jordan’s legend.

Supersized greed

Washington: You know you’re in trouble when Old Europe chastises you for being too socialist. But, hey, nobody’s perfect — except maybe Michelle Obama, who landed in London with a huge Obama entourage, wearing a daffodil yellow dress and looking like a confident ray of USA sunshine.
