ictQATAR will hold its third Business Connect seminar on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Al Sharq Village & Spa, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Business Connect will focus on how retail enterprises can leverage ICT to overcome economic challenges and surpass competition.

Hear from regional experts and business owners on how they have used ICT to grow their customer base, reach new markets and increase profits. Specific issues that will be discussed are:

ictQATAR is encouraging people in Qatar and the Arab world to take to the blog-waves. ictQATAR is hosting Mudawanat: All About Blogging, on Saturday, December 12, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Sharq Village & Spa. The event will feature international and regional blogging experts, as well as interactive workshops.

"Blogging is a tremendous way for people to share their thoughts and engage in society, whether they want to talk about sports, women's rights, business trends or technology," said Howaida Nadim, ictQATAR's Communications Director. "Through Mudawanat we are hoping to energize a new generation of bloggers and show why blogs are an incredibly effective way to communicate - for individuals, businesses, governments and not-for-profit organizations alike."

Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, initiator of the first ever World Innovation Summit for Education - WISE dedicated to monitoring the specific impact of 21st century challenges on education, announces today the launch of one of the key highlights of the WISE summit to be held next November in Doha Qatar with the inaugural WISE Awards 2009 - Innovative Education Practice Awards.

Qtel, Al Jazeera and the Doha Debates were all recognized for their impressive websites as recipients of the 2009 Arab e-Content Awards at an awards ceremony held in Bahrain yesterday. The Arab e-Content Awards recognize quality e-content and promote creativity and innovation in the development of new media applications in the Arab World.

The Supreme Council for Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR), nominated the three honorees for the World Summit Awards (WSA), which automatically entered them in the Arab e-Content Awards. WSA is a global contest to select best practice in e-Content and innovative ICT applications with the 2009 awards being officially announced later in June.

Acclaimed author and INSEAD professor Dr. Soumitra Dutta understands the incredible impact Web 2.0 and social networking are having on our lives both personally and professionally. To launch ictQATAR's Connected Speakers Series, Dr. Soumitra will share insights from his latest book. 'Throwing Sheep in the Boardroom,' the first comprehensive book written for a wide audience on Web 2.0 social networking.

Information and communication technologies are rapidly changing the way people receive their information. In the Arab world, some more traditional forms of communication remain dominant, however with increasing internet usage and higher levels of participation in "new media," such as social networking sites and blogs, the media and marketers are in need to rethink how best to reach their target audiences.
