ictQATAR will hold its third Business Connect seminar on Saturday, March 20, 2010 in Al Sharq Village & Spa, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Mudawanat: All About Blogging!

ictQATAR is encouraging people in Qatar and the Arab world to take to the blog-waves. ictQATAR is hosting Mudawanat: All About Blogging, on Saturday, December 12, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Sharq Village & Spa. The event will feature international and regional blogging experts, as well as interactive workshops.

"Blogging is a tremendous way for people to share their thoughts and engage in society, whether they want to talk about sports, women's rights, business trends or technology," said Howaida Nadim, ictQATAR's Communications Director. "Through Mudawanat we are hoping to energize a new generation of bloggers and show why blogs are an incredibly effective way to communicate - for individuals, businesses, governments and not-for-profit organizations alike."

The Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR) will hold its second event in its Connected Speaker Series where Andrew Hargadon, Professor of Technology Management at the Graduate School of Management at University of California, Davis will discuss how innovations in ICT are helping to create new energy efficiencies, how these innovations are taking place, and what to expect in the future.

3 Websites Receive Arab e-Content Award

Qtel, Al Jazeera and the Doha Debates were all recognized for their impressive websites as recipients of the 2009 Arab e-Content Awards at an awards ceremony held in Bahrain yesterday. The Arab e-Content Awards recognize quality e-content and promote creativity and innovation in the development of new media applications in the Arab World.

The Supreme Council for Information and Communication Technology (ictQATAR), nominated the three honorees for the World Summit Awards (WSA), which automatically entered them in the Arab e-Content Awards. WSA is a global contest to select best practice in e-Content and innovative ICT applications with the 2009 awards being officially announced later in June.

Online Media ‘Clicking’ with Audiences

Information and communication technologies are rapidly changing the way people receive their information. In the Arab world, some more traditional forms of communication remain dominant, however with increasing internet usage and higher levels of participation in "new media," such as social networking sites and blogs, the media and marketers are in need to rethink how best to reach their target audiences.

Jawad Abassi, the founder of the Arab Advisors Group, a company specializing research and analysis in the Middle East, offered his thoughts on the some of the latest media trends in the region.
