Fatwa against National song of india
By Winn on Tue, 03/11/2009 - 2:35pmDeoband (UP): Jamait-e-Ulema Hind (JEU) issued fatwa against singing national song 'Vande Matram'. According to a resolution, Muslims should not sing 'Vande Matram' as its reciting is against the Islam.
The fatwa was issued at Deoband national convention meet. The JEU leader said that the some of the lines in the song is against Islam. Meanwhile, Home Minister P Chidambaram will address a Jamait-e-Ulema Hind conference here today.
This is not the first time that a fatwa has been issued against the song. In 2006, after asking tennis pinup Sania Mirza to get rid of her signature T-shirts and short skirts, Muslim clerics in Hyderabad had issued a fatwa (religious edict) against the Bankim Chandra Chatterjee composition.

Bad publicity for Serena and Qatar tennis
By Lone_Ranger on Mon, 26/10/2009 - 3:08pmQatar's top sports officials are doing their best to promote the country as a top event sports hub, particularly for football, tennis, athletics, golf and motorsport. However, the local print media in Doha is trying its best to spoil the country's name as well as reputations of top international players who come here participate.
Consider the title given in the sports page of one of the newspapers today (Monday, October 26, 2009). "Naked ambition...." this work is in extremely poor taste. It is an attempt to tarnish Serena Williams' reputation and in directly criticise Qatar Tennis Federation for bringing here such players.

Tennis partner
By selina_marier on Fri, 23/10/2009 - 6:21pmIm a new brit addition to doha and extremely board waiting for my contract to start. Any fun loving women out there fancy tennis? I would consider myself an intermediate but havent played for a while, more about the exercise and social side rather than a hard core championship game. I'm near Gharafa Stadium, 15mins from City Centre - tennis anyone?
I am looking to buy tickets for the upcoming women's tennis championship starting 27th Oct to 1st Nov. Can anyone tell me where can i buy these tickets from and how much do they generally cost???
Thanks in advance.
