Beaches Get a Facelift
By najamss on Wed, 16/09/2009 - 6:42pm
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has beautified and revamped a number of beaches in Qatar ahead of the Eid holidays. An official at the ministry told Qatar News Agency that sun-shade umbrellas had been installed at the beaches as part of beautification drive. Also, the ministry has undertaken a beautification drive on some of the islands which are frequented by people during weekends and holidays. - Gulf Times (16th Sep. 2009).
Does anyone know, which beaches?
Yesterday I just read this article in the newspaper "The Peninsula", check this out:
DOHA: With the deadline for phasing out the use of plastic bags in bakeries and eateries fast approaching, the operators of most of these outlets are confused about what material they should use to pack food.
Early this year, the Emir,
H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, ratified a Cabinet decision (No. 1 of 2009) banning the use of plastic bags and newspaper and magazine sheets for packing food items, raw or cooked. The decision also banned the use of plastic bags for packing pastry products that were not frozen. The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning allowed six months’ time for the outlets to comply with the decision.

Al Waab Signal to be closed for work
By SPEED on Thu, 02/07/2009 - 8:01am
'Al Waab Signal … ‘temporary closure’'
The Al Waab Signal will be partially closed for one week from today, Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
The closure is in order to complete road work, it said.
Motorists coming from Sadd Signal towards Al Waab will have to turn right at the Lakhwiya round-about and then turn left, followed by another right turn, to come back on the Al Waab Street.
Those coming from Bustan Street towards Al Waab will go straight past the Lakhwiya round-about, turn left and then right to enter Al Waab Street, the Authority said.
Five expatriates owners of properties
By SPEED on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 6:54am
"Abdullah Ibrahim al-Sada: dream homes for expatriates"
Doha Municipality yesterday introduced five beneficiaries of a programme allowing non-Qataris to buy residential properties on a renewable leasehold of 99 years in Qatar.
The scheme, backed by a decree issued in 2004 and a Cabinet decision in 2006, would allow the prospective buyers to stay in Qatar practically without a sponsor. The ownership of the property would move to the “first degree” inheritor in case of the owner’s death.
Another story of 'Real Estate' dispute

Tenants hit by rent row
By Sarmad Qazi
The tenants of an eight-villa posh compound in Al Gharaffa have received eviction notices following a dispute between the landlord and the real estate agent.
The dispute arose when the agent failed to pay the rent collected from the tenants to the landlord, it is learnt.
Last Thursday, the police arrived at the compound asking the tenants to vacate.
“They said the owner had won a case against the agent of the property and they were there to evict them. It was a shocking news to us,” a tenant told Gulf Times.
