ictQATAR Releases Annual Report 2008

The year 2008 was marked by momentum on many fronts for ictQATAR, the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology. More parents are involved in their children’s day-to-day educational progress with the help of technology and business leaders are boosting revenue and performance. More than 300 online services can be accessed anytime, anywhere through Qatar’s online government portal Hukoomi. And because of round-the-clock vigilance by a team of international cyber experts, children and adult users are safer on the Internet.

Infocomm firms keen to plug into e-govt

To whoever is planning to do business in the Middle East, my advice would be ‘start with Qatar’. The country has an amazing vision for the future and that vision is supported by ample liquidity,” an infocomm company executive said in Singapore last week.
At a networking luncheon organised by the Infocomm Development Authority Singapore (IDA) on the sidelines of an ICT exhibition, he said Qatar’s investment in the ICT infrastructure would make it easier for the country to gauge upgrades in technology to strengthen its e-governance initiatives.
A number of Singaporean firms have already done successful projects in Qatar.
NCS, which made its Middle East foray three years ago, has assisted Qatar in setting up the e-governance portal and shape the Hukoomi initiative.
