Where can I buy a StarSat satellite receiver?
By brams on Tue, 05/05/2009 - 4:05pmI have a specific need to buy a Starsat satellite receiver, I've looked in Giant (they have one but it's FTA and does not have a smart card slot), LuLu & Carrefour and can't find them. Anybody know any stores or the official distributor.
Thanks

Cafetiere
By StephF on Tue, 05/05/2009 - 10:02amCan any tell me where I can buy one of these? I am tired of drinking granulated coffee. I've tried every outlet at Carrefour, Home Corner, The One and the souqs. Would be grateful for any help!
Home Furnishing and Appliances

Ghost-Flicker
Many of the furniture stores are housed in the mall and cater for all styles, designs and budgets.
Well known home furniture stores are City Lifestyle (City Centre Doha), Home Centre (City Centre and Centre Point Malls), the One (Landmark Mall and Village Mall), ID design and Bombay in the Mall.
Homes R Us (Hyatt Plaza) and Zara Home (Villaggio) have a wide range and selection of trendy and exclusive homeware goodies.
Appliances and electronics are sold at Carrefour, Dasman Centre, Safari Hypermarket and Lulu Hypermarket. Prices offered here are generally lower than the branded Dealers.
See www.qatarliving.com/... for a lsit of home furnishing stores.
Iconic Qatar Personality!
By jasminejasmine on Fri, 01/05/2009 - 10:47pmI have just got home from Carrefour where I have shoppped weekly for the last 2 or so years since it opened. I just want to say THANKS to the guy (if you shop there you know who I mean) who weighs the fruit and veg in Villagio. Not only does he manage the nightmare queue system calmly and fairly but he knows the code of every single thing in his head AND if you ask him a question about the prices or items he always knows. He also works at the speed of light. I truly believe that the best thing about this country is that you get to know the faces and characters of people you see because it is such a small place and I think he is one of the iconic people in Qatar whom we all know. Do you agree?
Mega Mart = Rip Off Mart
By emgee on Fri, 01/05/2009 - 8:56pmTo everyone out there. I'm sure this has been covered before, however, for any newcomers:
Just got back from a small food shopping spree at mega mart (usually use Carrefour) and checked the receipt.
A small pack of tomatoes priced at QR22 (expensive anyway) were actually billed at QR88!!
Outrageous! Check your receipts carefully or avoid the place.
I purchased a TV (SONY , BRAVIA) from Carrefour 3 months back , Now it is not working ... I called the SONY service center several times... still no proper response.. .and I conveyed message to CARREFOUR ccustomer care too....they forwarded my complaint to SONY...then i received some calls that they are coming to check the TV...NOW It is almost 15 days since my TV has not been working ... nothing has been done so far.... What I have to do now.........

Stealing your card details
By litteratuer on Tue, 28/04/2009 - 12:16pmIf you have visited LULU,FFC or Carrefour you might have noticed the after the billing is done and your card is swipped for the amount in the POS machine, there is a second swipe that the cashier does. This is on the billing machine. This is a card reader which reads data off your card, like all the stuff on your card and I assume it stores our information on the shops database.
Is this practice even legal?Taking my card information without asking my persmission (she does not ask me)and use it for whatever!!This raises a lot of questions on data privacy and so on.
Infact I have noticed this practice not just in LULU or FFC but other big stores in all the malls.

Where can I buy XD card for my Olympus camera
By bluer_than_blue on Sat, 25/04/2009 - 10:42pmmy memory card conked out and I need to replace it. I was told that since it's not one of the newer models, I need only a 512 or max 1GB XD card.
Do you guys know where I can find one? Carrefour doesn't have stock of those anymore and the smaller shops say the same thing.
thanks!
To dog owners
By jasminejasmine on Thu, 23/04/2009 - 5:10pmAs the weather heats up, if your dog uses your garden or backyard to pee in, it can start to smell a bit. In the UK I used Zoflora disinfectant and have just noticed it is on sale in Carrefour, both Villagio and Landmark.
Although it is in a small bottle, it is so highly concentrated and is the only thing I have ever found that completely eliminates the smell of urine from the garden. Sorry to post on such a yukky subject but i thought it might be of interest to someone, particularly if you have difficult neighbours.
