Shopping at Doha International Airport
By travelt on Mon, 21/09/2009 - 2:06amHello all,
I'll be flying to Italy via Qatar on 1st October 2009.
I have a 7 hour stop over at the Doha International Airport so I'm thinking of buying a new Mobile Phone and maybe a few other small electronics in the Airport's Duty Free Shops..
Would like to know how good the range is and recommendation on what would be a good phone under QR1000?
I need the phone for business needs (email, internet, GPS).
Also how much average crowd is there in the airport on Thursdays? Any good suggestions on what to do in the airport for this long (apart from sleeping)?
PS: I already have searched on this site and have looked over a lot of threads but couldn't find a complete answer :)
Thanks!
"Flightmare" at DOH
By Mandilulur on Sun, 20/09/2009 - 3:59pmFrom today's Peninsula:
"Authorities at the Doha International Airport literally struggled to cope with the evening rush. Hundreds of passengers crowded the departure lounge in the evening.
“There were too many people in the airport. For want of effective crowd management, some were trying to push towards the security point before the immigration counter. I was caught in the middle of this surging crush of people. More and more people were pushing from behind and the security staff was preventing a forward flow ….. a pregnant woman was screaming for help”, said an email received from a reader of this paper."
My brother-in-law is a British national and will be visiting Doha next week. What are the document that he required to present at Doha Airport and what documents I should submit at Doha International Airport for him? Any early response is highly appreciated.

How about THE PEARL QATAR ?
By positive on Wed, 01/07/2009 - 8:17amSource: Gulf Times. July , 2009
Why is it that THE PEARL QATAR is not mentioned in the areas where buyers can transfer their sponsorship?
Five expatriates owners of properties
The official said that the owners of property, if employed, can transfer their sponsorship with the consent of the current sponsor.....
The areas where expatriates can buy property are:

"Abdullah Ibrahim al-Sada: dream homes for expatriates"
Doha Municipality yesterday introduced five beneficiaries of a programme allowing non-Qataris to buy residential properties on a renewable leasehold of 99 years in Qatar.
The scheme, backed by a decree issued in 2004 and a Cabinet decision in 2006, would allow the prospective buyers to stay in Qatar practically without a sponsor. The ownership of the property would move to the “first degree” inheritor in case of the owner’s death.

QR Takes Measures Over Health Concerns
By SDJC on Wed, 29/04/2009 - 7:58amQatar Airways Takes Proactive Precautionary Measures Over Health Concerns
Qatar Airways has issued a precautionary advisory notice to all passengers originating from any one of Qatar Airways’ three US gateway cities travelling to Doha and beyond.
In the interests of the safety and wellbeing of all our passengers and crew, Qatar Airways has decided to take into consideration concerns expressed by authorities around the world over current health fears.
Passengers should be reassured that modern aircraft have very advanced air filtration systems which ensure a high level of air quality despite the confined environment they are travelling in.
In response to the current outbreak of swine flu in Mexico, Qatar Airways is adopting certain preventive steps.
