For BARBIE DOLL lovers

Who says geeks can't be `girlie' girls? Meet the new Barbie, a computer engineer. With more than 124 careers on her resume, Mattel's iconic doll Barbie has got her 125th career -- computer engineer -- voted for by over half a million Barbie fans.

The world's most popular doll, which celebrated her 50th birthday last year, is now the new brand ambassador of a supposedly male-dominated profession.

In her latest job, the size-zero glam doll sports a nerdy look accompanied by the requisite gadgets.

She’s been an astronaut, rock star, dentist and veterinarian. And now Mattel’s (MAT) Barbie doll is going to be a computer engineer.

Where is Sachin, Kalam in Phir mile sur?

http://www.youtube.c...

"Phir mile sur", the new version of the vibrant music video of 1988 showcasing the myriad colours and hues of India, features over 65 prominent faces from various walks of life, but viewers are critical of an overdose of Bollywood and exclusion of legends like Sachin Tendulkar and former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The 16-minute-long video is available on Youtube site and surfers thronged it after it was unveiled Tuesday on the occasion of the 61st Republic Day. They have posted their reactions too. Many say it has been dominated by Bollywood personalities and exclusion of iconic Tendulkar or Abdul kalam eclipses the true essence of national integration.

China reshapes the world...

By WILLIAM FOREMAN

updated 4:13 p.m. ET Dec. 19, 2009
GUANGZHOU, China - China's bold rise this decade took many forms. The Beijing Olympics. The billions of dollars loaned to the U.S. The rip-roaring economic growth.

And then there were the missing manhole covers. Hundreds of them were stolen from streets around the world. The first reports came from Taiwan in 2003 and later London, where it was dubbed the "Great Drain Robbery." Chicago had to replace at least 150 manhole lids or grates in 2005.

Thieves were selling them to shady scrap metal dealers, who were cashing in on China's ravenous demand for steel for skyscrapers in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities. China's construction boom was literally being felt on the streets around the world.

50 things changed people's lives in a decade

50 things that changed people's lives in a decade

NEW YORK: Was it only a decade ago that a blackberry was a mere warm season fruit? That green was, well, a color, and reality TV was that one show sandwiched between music videos on MTV?

There were, of course, huge political and social upheavals that roiled the world in the past decade, but there also were the gradual lifestyle changes that people do not always notice when they are happening; kind of like watching a child grow older. Here is an alphabetical look at 50 things that changed our lives since the beginning of the millennium:

AIRPORTS: Remember when you did not have to take off your shoes before getting on a plane? Remember when you could bring a bottled drink on board? Political terror changed all that.

HELE NI INAY - isang hiling sa paskong darating

KAY TAGAL NG PANAHON
AWIT MO'Y NARIRINIG
SA TUWING GABI
NG PASKONG TAHIMIK
TANGING TINIG MO
ANG NAGPAPASABIK
NA HINTAYIN KO
DAKILANG ARAW SA SASAPIT

KAY TAGAL NG PANAHON
SA IYO'Y NANGUNGULILA
SA BAWAT HAPLOS
SA AKING MUKHA
SA TUWING NAHIHIMBING
HINIHINTAY PA RIN
MARAMDAMAN MULI
ANG YAKAP MO SA AKIN

Refrain:
ANG TANGING HILING
SA PASKONG DARATING
HELE MO INAY
MULING MARINIG
ANG TANGING HILING
SA PASKONG DARATING
SA IYONG KANDUNGAN
MULING MAIDLIP

AT KUNG MATUTUPAD
ANG DASAL SA MAYKAPAL
MAKAPILING KA MULI
NG ISANG SANDALI
ANG PASKONG ITO'Y
'DI KO IPAGPAPALIT
SA LAHAT NG PASKONG
SA AKI'Y DARATING

(Repeat Refrain 2X)
