Animal rights campaigners have criticised the Chinese over their extreme eating habits after a video of diners eating a live fish became a hit on the internet.

The film, in which a part-fried fish is shown breathing and wriggling on a plate as it is being slowly eaten alive in a restaurant, has been posted on the video-sharing website YouTube.

In order to keep the carp alive chefs cook its body but wrap its head in a wet cloth to keep it breathing, before covering it in sauce and serving in on a plate.

Peta, the animal rights group, called the video, which had more than 120,000 views on YouTube in a week, "disgusting".

Mom recounts horror of seeing baby hit by train

A young mother on a train platform lets go of the stroller holding her 6-month-old son for an instant. As if nudged by an unseen hand, the stroller rolls toward the tracks a few feet away. As the woman scrambles desperately to recapture her precious cargo, the stroller topples off the platform and lands upside-down on the tracks — just as a train rolls into the station at 20 mph.

The mother freezes for an instant, her legs bent, upper body hunched forward, arm stretched out clutching at empty air as the train rolls over her baby.

INDEPENDENT faith schools in the UK have been warned that differing types of voodoo must be taught with the same accuracy as their own brand of mojambo.

School inspectors found many teachers in faith schools used air-quotes when discussing rival theories and habitually ended lessons by making gestures by moving their hand while poking their tongue against the inside of their cheek.

Schools inspector, Tom Logan, said: "Unfortunately more than 80% of Britain's Catholic schools now display a poster of Archbishop of Canterbury sporting a crudely-drawn pair of satanic horns.

"Meanwhile, Muslim schools have altered their computer spellcheckers so that whenever a child writes 'Christian' or 'Buddhist' a little box appears saying 'it looks like you're trying to spell 'b*****d infidel'."
