Another attack leaves .......................

As word spread that a gunman had opened fire at Fort Hood leaving a trail of carnage, a chilling realization swept across the U.S. Muslim community: He has an Islamic name.

From a professor who just testified in Congress, to a White House adviser appearing before a Jewish group and a former Marine driving home from work, Muslims across the country were shocked, angry and afraid that the attack would erode efforts to erase anti-Islamic stereotypes.

Many Islamic leaders said the Fort Hood tragedy that left 13 dead and 30 wounded including the alleged gunman, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, could likely post the sternest test for U.S. Muslims since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Secretary Costs Pepsi $ 1.26 Billion!!

What's the cost of not showing up to court? For PepsiCo Inc., it's a $1.26 billion default judgment. A Wisconsin state court socked the company with the monster award in a case alleging that PepsiCo stole the idea to bottle and sell purified water from two Wisconsin men.

Now the company is scrambling to salvage the situation. The damages award was handed down on Sept. 30. PepsiCo filed motions to vacate the order and dismiss the claims on Oct. 13, saying it wasn't even aware of the lawsuit until Oct. 6.

London's Heathrow tops list of worst airports

Sydney : Oct, 24

London's Heathrow Airport has been voted the worst airport in the world for the second year running in a poll of 14,500 frequent fliers while Singapore's Changi was again ranked as the best.

The survey participants, all member of airport lounge programme Priority Pass, rated Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport as the world's second worst with Los Angeles International Airport coming third despite a recent $1 billion overhaul.

"A result that suggests anyone wanting a romantic break in Paris should avoid the Heathrow-Charles de Gaulle route if they don't want to kill the mood," said a statement from Priority Pass.

"Sadly, Heathrow remains firmly entrenched as the airport the world loves to hate," added Jonathan French, head of brand for Priority Pass.

Boyzone fame Stephen Gately choked to death!

Oct.12,2009

Tragic Boyzone star Stephen Gately choked to death on his vomit, sources close to the police investigation said last night.

Stephen, 33, was found dead in his pyjamas by partner Andy Cowles at their £1million Majorcan holiday home. A post mortem will be held tomorrow and a Spanish judge will begin an investigation but insiders unofficially confirmed the cause of the tragedy.

Stephen was discovered kneeling against a sofa with his face buried in a pillow. A friend of the Gately family said: "They have been told the most likely scenario is Stephen had a bit too much to drink, vomited in his sleep and choked. It was a terrible accident."

Qatar Living behind Qatar 2022 - Go Qatar!

Rio de Janeiro's successful bid to host the 2016 Olympics looks like a sign for Qatar. It was only last June that Doha's bid for the Olympics was turned down by the IOC (even though some argue that the Qatar bid itself was better).

All the Olympic buzz placed Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid as ahead of Rio as favourites for the 2016 Olypmics. But less than a year later, Rio came up on top.

Qatar can certainly take heart from this. Qatar now has a dream to host the football World Cup in 2022.

If it happens, it will be the first time the World Cup travels to the Middle East and Qatar will become the first Arab country to host this prestigious event.

The road ahead is not easy and is difficult even for the biggest countries. But with the unwavering support and commitment to sport that Qatar has shown, even the impossible looks more doable.

Qatar Living has been tracking the growth of Qatar since 2005 and are fully behind the Qatar 2022 bid! We support the dream and bid for the 2022 World Cup!

We're proud to announce our unwavering support to the country's World Cup bid at the exact moment the Qatar 2022 bid website goes live.

Stand up, Qatar, look the world in the eye, take a bow and make us all proud!

TOKYO (AP) — Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama pledged Thursday to do his utmost to bring the Olympics to Tokyo in 2016 as he prepared to go to Copenhagen for the big vote.
"As long as I go, I want to win," Hatoyama told a group of reporters before heading for Tokyo's Haneda Airport. "If our rivals are moving ahead of us, we'll cruise to the top from behind."

Tokyo is vying with Chicago, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro to host the Summer Games in 2016. The International Olympic Committee will vote Friday to choose the site, with millions of dollars in construction, tourist revenues and sponsorships at stake.
