Would women priests lessen abuse?
By Olive on Thu, 18/03/2010 - 9:22amWould more women in Catholic Church reduce abuse?
By Tom Evans, CNN
March 18, 2010 -- Updated 0209 GMT (1009 HKT)
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
(CNN) -- With the sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church spreading, a leading religious scholar said Wednesday that a greater female presence in the church hierarchy would have helped prevent the crisis from worsening.
"It is clear that, statistically, women abuse much less than men. And in terms of reporting, are much more likely to (report abuse)," Serene Jones, president of the Union Theological Seminary in New York, told CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
"It would make a big difference if my Catholic women students at the seminary were in positions of power right now. This would not be handled this way at all," she said.

Facebook can be a great tool, and an occasional annoyance. What kind of Facebooker are you?
There are lots of fun, interesting people you're happy to talk to when they stroll up. Then there are the other people, the ones who make you cringe when you see them coming. This article is about those people.

Qatar: An oasis for exiles
By Spider Sense on Mon, 01/03/2010 - 9:28amIn granting nationality to M.F. Husain, the Gulf state of Qatar has done what it always does best — providing refuge to those in trouble back home.
Whatever be the repercussions in India — ranging from shame to jubilation — the decision has further bolstered Doha’s reputation as the ‘exile capital’ of the world.
Husain happens to be just the latest in a long list of people, who, on being driven out of their homes, have found shelter in the sleepy Qatari capital.
The most high profile of them have been the wife and daughters of Saddam Hussein. Saddam went into hiding after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, while wife Sajjad, accompanied by daughters, Raghad and Rana, slipped into Qatar to live anonymously.

His request approved, the CNN News photographer quickly used a cell phone to call the local airport to charter a flight.
He was told a twin-engine plane would be waiting for him at the airport.
Arriving at the airfield, he spotted a plane warming up outside a hanger.
He jumped in with his bag, slammed the door shut, and shouted, 'Let's go'.
The pilot taxied out, swung the plane into the wind and took off.
Once in the air, the photographer instructed the pilot, 'Fly over the valley and make low passes so I can take pictures of the fires on the hillsides.'
'Why?' asked the pilot.
'Because I'm a photographer for CNN' , he responded, 'and I need to get
some close up shots.'

Current 2009 and 2010 models are not affected by the recall, according to Honda.

Year In Celeb '09
By supernova2016 on Sun, 03/01/2010 - 8:58pmFrom the death of the King and an Angel to the Tiger Woods and David Letterman scandals, 2009 has been one heck of a year. Here's what went down this year:
1. June 25 was the day the music died. Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, passed away after succumbing to cardiac arrest caused by an overdose. The entire cosmiverse, from LA (where he died) to our little corner of the world, was shocked and grieved at the very sudden demise of the legend. Tragically, MJ's last performance on this earth (subsequently crafted into the documentary "This Is It") arrived just weeks before his comeback tour. Jackson had infinite talent in life, and we expect that interest in his iconic glory days (as well as his last days) will only continue in death.
