All the buzz, none of the hangover?
By Olive on Thu, 07/01/2010 - 8:54amEx drugs tsar creates synthetic alcohol that gives you a buzz without the hangover
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 6:13 PM on 06th January 2010
An alcohol substitute that gives the drinker the pleasant feelings of tipsiness without an unpleasant hangover, is being developed by researchers.
The team, led by drugs expert Professor David Nutt, has developed the drink using chemicals related to the sedative Valium.
It works on the nerves in a similar way to alcohol causing feelings of well-being and relaxation.
Professor Nutt hopes the colourless, tasteless synthetic will eventually replace the alcohol content in wine and liquor
But no matter how many drinks the consumer has, they should remain only mildly drunk.

By chadqa on Mon, 26/10/2009 - 3:22pmShare ko lang ang info na ito sa mga Qler's ko.
may nag forward lang po sakin sa email.
I have used an onion which has been left in the fridge, and sometimes I don't use a whole one at one time, so save the other half for later.
Now with this info, I have changed my mind....will buy smaller onions in the future.
I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Mullins is huge, and is owned by 11 brothers and sisters in the Mullins family. My friend, Jeanne, is the CEO.
Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.
D& D(Drink&Die)
By one_shot on Tue, 20/10/2009 - 7:05pmAlcohol will claim more than 90,000 lives over the next decade without urgent action to tackle the country's increasingly ruinous relationship with drinking, experts warn today.
They predict that 90,800 people will be killed by diseases directly linked to drinking, such as alcoholic liver disease and chronic hepatitis, and alcohol poisoning.
Deaths due to drinking have trebled over the last 25 years as per capita consumption has risen to become one of the highest in Europe, according to research by Prof Martin Plant, of the University of the West of England, one of the UK's leading authorities on alcohol-related harm.
Nation's premier church battles abortion in front yard

For the Catholic hierarchy, it must be a dreaded case of the barbarians finally reaching its gates.
Two years ago, at the bidding of Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, Monsignor Jose Clemente Ignacio became rector of the Church of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, home of the miraculous 400-year-old statue of the kneeling Christ that is the object of frenzied adulation by millions.
To head what the Cardinal calls “the premier church of the Philippines" is an esteemed post any man of the cloth would be eager to assume—except the plaza outside the Quiapo Church also happens to be the abortion capital of Metro Manila.

Girl sues KFC
By sadaf19852 on Mon, 10/08/2009 - 7:25amGirl sues KFC for $10mn over brain damage from chicken twister
Melbourne: A healthy seven-year-old girl was crippled and brain damaged from salmonella poisoning after eating a Chicken Twister from Kentucky Fried Chicken, a court recently heard.
Monika Samaan, 11, was seeking more than $10 million in damages after the illness developed into acquired spastic quadriplegia and acquired profound intellectual disability and liver dysfunction.
Tony Bartley, SC, told the New South Wales Supreme Court that Monika's condition was caused by salmonella on the chicken she ate from the KFC outlet at Villawood store.
"You will hear unsettling and disturbing practices in the kitchen, including the kitchen KFC operated at its Villawood store," the Herald Sun quoted Bartley as saying.
Excellent article ....MUST READ AND FOLLOW
By b4me on Wed, 22/07/2009 - 12:20pmExcellent article on cancer .
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.
Father: 'They were all my world... How can I go on?
By SPEED on Wed, 22/07/2009 - 9:09am
"Nathan, 5, and Chelsea, 7, died last week of suspected food poisoning after eating a take-away meal ordered from a restaurant in Al Ghusais."
Dubai: "Why did this happen to my children?" Patrick D'Souza asks, his voice cracking at the cherished memories of little Nathan and Chelsea. "They were all my world, now they're gone. How can I go on?"
It's been 12 days since the D'Souza family's hellish nightmare began, and it started with a phone call placed to the Lotus Garden in Al Ghusais for Chinese food.
Never did the family realise then that for five-year-old Nathan and seven-year-old Chelsea, it would be their last supper.
