Doha Airport

Friends,

my colleague is visiting Doha on 25/11/2009 for official purpose. He is working as Project Engineer. Plesae let us know if there had any change in Qatar visa on arrival rules as generally our officials coming from Dubai will get visa on arrival. He has not obtained Qatar visa hoping the same can be obtained at Doha airport on arrival. Please advise,

I was told the tourist visa issued upon arrival at the Doha airport can only be paid for by credit card. I do not have a credit card.

A friend might borrow me his credit card.

At the airport/immigration do they just swipe the card ? Or do they print out a receipt, then you sign it, then they check your signature and that the name on the card match the name in the passport ?

What is the payment process ?

So I've also heard that there could be some way to pay by cash: apparently there exists a machine that takes cash and issues a voucher, or there is a bank in the arrivals hall that issues a voucher for cash. The voucher can then be used at immigration in place of a credit card.

Can somebody confirm or deny this ?

My husband didnt' pay his credit card in HSBC for almost 2 yrs. because of our financial difficulties, and also our Qtel bill on our mobile not paid also for almost 2 yrs. And now we are planning to go for vacation in Phil. on December. Is there any tendency that they will hold us in Doha airport and put us in Jail?
