How about your dialect?

here's just to share reminders all about ilonggo genes...

You know you are a true blue Ilonggo if ...

Your one peso is pisos.
Your bathroom has at least one "lugod" ( a rough and rounded volcanic stone used for wiping body dirts) (or one for every family member...)

Your nanay used to make you drink Mirinda or Royal Tru Orange when you have a fever, which is supposed to make you feel better.

"Sinamak" (a vinegar bottle filled with sliced gingers, siling labuyo and etc.) is a staple on your dining table (the best Ilonggo invention if you ask me... it was even banned on travel by airplanes long before 911..)

Your toyo is patis and your patis is toyo.

You use atsuete for your adobo and refer to pinaksiw as "pinamalhan".

Your daily meal will likely include laswa, KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka), ginat-an nga tambo with tugabang and okra, ginat-an nga munggo, Linutik, apan-apan, etc.

November 1 means eating ibus, suman, suman
Latik, kalamay-hati, bayi-bayi, valenciana or other native delicacies with glutinous rice and coconut milk.

You call those you love palangga, pangga, langga
or Ga.

You call your siblings or cousins inday, nonoy
or toto... the househelp may call you the same.

You call those who are older than you "manang or manong".

You catch the attention of sales attendants by calling them "day" or "to"

Your childhood games include tumba patis, taksi', panagu-ay, balay-balay, ins, shotbong, tin-tin baka, holanes, etc.

You used to be (or still are) scared to go out at night lest you meet the aswang, tik-tik , tayhu, kapre, kama-kama, morto, etc.

You call a person, thing, place and
event "kwan" when you forget it (si kwan, ang kwan,
sa kwan)

You understand that "Particulars Keep Out" sign means outsiders keep out.

You use words such as

"ahay" (expression of
pity, grief, empathy),

"yuga" (expression of disbelief, surprise),

"ambot ah" (to say you don't know,
expression of impatience).

You often start your sentence with "ti".

You say goodbye by saying "halong".

Your favorite cusswords are:
"linte" (if you're slightly pissed off),
"lilinti-an" (if you're now really pissed off)
and...
finally "yodiputa" (if you're pissed off big time!!)

Guilty?
You are a TRUE Ilonggo indeed!

Hehehe!

we would like to know who can understand lil bit of ilonggo here... anyone interested to know how to speak Hiligaynon???? i would be glad to share with you...

also, calling the other G.I.'s (genuine Ilonggo bala haw!)

Those were all about ilonggos. How about you? do u have some else to share how your dialect has reminded of what you are doin today? let's share....
Regionalism

Katulong, mangkukulam, kuripot, matapang, mayabang... the sounds of regionalism which is in fact, a form of "local racism" as each province calls the other with certain traits hindi ba? 7,100 scattered islands is reason enough for our being regionalistic as locals become tribally divided.

Ewan ko pero sana we can wake up one day & see each other as one unified Pinoy maski anong probinsya man ang ating pang-galingan. Madalas kasi pag nag attend ako ng gathering, they outcast each other dahil hindi sila mag ka probinsya.

Buti na lang meron FilEx. Isang grupo ng Pinoy na walang regional boundaries o exclusivity. Pinoys unite!

The New Wave Era...Looking for music swapping buddies.

Anybody here from the New Wave Era? Pale Fountains, The Cure, Depeche Mode, OMD, New Order, Fra Lippo Lippi, Lotus Eaters, China Crisis, The Housemartins, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc.

I am trying to re-capture my long lost youth thru the music of the 80's and I am collecting CD albums of these bands & artists. Back in the old days of vinyl records, our only chance of owning New Wave music is when we are able to record it from DWXB 102.7 using my Sony Walkman. But today, thank God for torrents!

Anybody wants to swap CD's? I've just added to my collection the complete 14 CD album of Everything But The Girl from 1983-2006 & I can swap a copy with anything you have. Oh by the way, I also have other genre besides New Wave & request lang kayo baka meron ako. Swapping only & there is nothing for sale. Thanks!
