"New Student"

It was the first day of school and a new student named Tomas, the son of a Filipino immigrant, entered the sixth grade.

The teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing some American history. Who said "Give me Liberty, or give me Death?"

She saw a sea of blank faces, except for Tomas, who had his hand up.
"Patrick Henry, 1775."

"Very good! Who said 'Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth'"?

Again, no response except from Tomas: "Abraham Lincoln, 1863," said Tomas.

The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, you should be ashamed. Tomas, who is new to our country, knows more about its history than you do."

She heard a loud whisper: "Screw the Filipinos."

Iraq & Syria ? New war?

Amid a growing row, the two countries have traded insults and recalled their ambassadors in recent weeks.

During Saddam Hussein's 1979-2003 rule, Iraq and Syria were governed by rival branches of the Arab nationalist Baath Party and ties between them were characterised by mutual hostility.

Although diplomatic relations were restored in 2006, the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2003 saw many of his former allies flee to Syria, renewing tensions between the countries.

Is a Government based on Tyranny the answer ?

Bernioe Eccelstone seems to think so !!!!!!!!!!

Leaving aside his remarks on Hitler and not taking this discussion into the holocaust... Would you agree ????

Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One chief, said yesterday that he preferred totalitarian regimes to democracies and praised Adolf Hitler for his ability to “get things done”.

In an outspoken interview with The Times, the 78-year-old billionaire chastised contemporary politicians for their weakness and extolled the virtues of strong leadership.

Petrodollar scam - how far it is true?

William R. Clark is manager of performance improvement at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. According to Clark’s book “Petrodollar Warfare,” Americans don’t realize that the primary reason for the Iraq War and the current war threat against Iran is not the threat of nukes, it’s not terrorism and it’s not the oil. It’s all about the protection and propping up of the US petrodollar.

A heartfelt thanks from Iraq.

"You British should be proud for giving our children a future....."

THEY are laughing families enjoying fairground rides and ice creams in a scene familiar to millions of us.

But this is war-ravaged Basra in Iraq, which until last year was one of the most violent places on Earth.

Where a bloody insurgency once raged, shoppers now pack the pavement cafes and busy souks overlooking the River Euphrates.

Like many here, dad-of-three Mohammed Qassim, 35, credits British forces with achieving this cherished new peace.

Tucking into buffalo liver at a floating restaurant on the nearby Shatt al-Arab waterway, he insisted: “I say to British soldiers and their families, ‘Many, many thanks. You should be very proud, you have given our children a future’.”
