People park in my Garage!
By Bthomas on Sat, 07/11/2009 - 10:12pmThe building that I stay in has covered parking. Its 8 garages for respective flats.
More than often we have cases where people park into our garage and this causes discomfort cause almost every flat has about 2 cars - We have 3 in our case!
So what I usually do is I block the car so the person can't exit. I make him come to my door and then I explain that is my car park and your shouldn't be parking here.
There was a case recently when an arab lady was creating so much noise that I blocked her Landcruiser. I was like, you are in my garage - this is not the tone you are supposed to be talking with...she said she would call the police, and I said - Go ahead! You are in my freaking parking space!
Anyways, She apologised and I moved my car.
Car to Heaven
By alsboy on Sun, 25/10/2009 - 7:58pmMichael, Francis and Ubaldo are standing at the Gates of Heaven being interviewed by St. Peter.
“Ok you, Michael, how many times did you cheat on your wife??”
“Let me be honest Peter. I've been seeing at least two or three different women a year all my married life”.
“Ok, your car in heaven is that Hyundai Santro there. Goodbye.”
St. Peter turns to Francis, “How many times did you cheat on your wife??”
Francis replies, “I must admit that in fifteen years of marriage I did cheat on my wife twice.”
St. Peter says, “OK, your car in heaven is that Honda Civic. Here’s the key. Get going!”
He then looks at Ubaldo, “And you, how many times did you cheat on your wife??”
Whirl on the Pearl
By UkEngQatar on Tue, 20/10/2009 - 9:20amJust want to share with you the amazing, hilarious, shocking and frustrating experience of buying and collecting household appliances from the Pearl.
OK this is what happened. Saw an advert on QL in the “For Sale” section household appliances for sale. Arranged with the Seller (whom was a fellow Brit) a mutual convenient time to inspect the appliances, which were brand new and still in the wrapping and boxes. The reason for the sale was that his last Villa in the Lagoon, that he was planning to move in, fell through, because of the delay in the electrical connection from Kahramaa. So he was left with brand new kitchen appliances, that he had to take with him to his new apartment in Pearl.
candy criticised for 'sexual' sweet wrappers
By britexpat on Thu, 27/08/2009 - 3:44pmIs the PC brigade going too far ??
Haribo's MAOAM sweets have been criticised over characters on wrappers in 'compromising' positions.
Simon Simpkins, a father of two, said he was shocked at the "pornographic" poses when he bought the sour candy for his children Benjamin and Ofelia.
Mr Simpkins, of Pontefract, West Yorks, told The Sun: "The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter.

Dear All,
With Ramadan coming up there has been an increase in Police activity in relation to 'Public decency' in Qatar:
A young British couple were arrested recently in the car park of the Ramada (Apparently for kissing each other goodnight) by the Police, as they were NOT married they were taken to jail and detained for a couple of days and have been released pending a court case.
A lady (Lebanese) was arrested and fined QR1000 for wearing inappropriate dress in public (Inside a mall) her shoulders / bra strap were showing.
Advice has been issued recently by both the Philippine and American Embassies in Qatar advising all to ensure appropriate clothing is worn in public, government buildings, hospitals etc for both MALE and Female

Walkway for shoppers
By rMs_000 on Tue, 28/07/2009 - 10:52am

A bridge between Aspire Tower and the Villagio car park is in the final stages of construction, and is set to become a new addition to the area which has seen massive architectural developments in recent years.
The covered bridge is situated some 10m off the ground, and customers have the choice of an elevator or three short flights of stairs to reach the walkway, which leads directly into the Aspire Tower.
With doors located some 20m from the entrance to Villagio food court, the bridge will provide visitors to the tower with an air-conditioned and covered walkway to reach the shopping centre.
