History in the Making!
By Dot.Com on Sun, 07/03/2010 - 8:02pmWashington DC will become the first city in the US to make female condoms available for free
The contraceptives will be handed out in beauty salons, convenience stores and high schools.
Female condoms have been on sale since 1993 but take-up has been slow.
The initial version of the contraceptive was judged by US customers to be too expensive.
However, a new version now being used in countries including South Africa, Brazil, and Indonesia will be distributed in Washington DC and offered for sale in pharmacies alongside male condoms.....

When you could have heard a pin drop
By svelte_saggi on Thu, 18/02/2010 - 10:01amVeer Savarkar once started addressing a public meeting in Hindi at Bangalore.
The crowd started shouting " Speak in Kannada. We will hear only in Kannada."
Veer Savarkar replied " Friends, I have spent 14 years of rigorous imprisonment in ill famous Andaman Jail where all freedom fighters were kept in jail. I have learned Bengali from the freedom fighters coming from Bengal, Hindi from those coming from Uttar Pradesh, even Gujarati and Punjabi. Unfortunately there was none from Karnataka from whom I could have learned Kannada."
...and there was pin drop silence.

MEA Community News letter 01 by the Stormy Foundation
By stormy786 on Mon, 04/01/2010 - 7:59amSalams All,
I hope this message finds you in good health and iman.…
This past year (and decade) has gone by so quickly and a lot has happened starting with the whole September 11 attacks back in 2001 that kind of shaped the rest of the decade for the Muslim world.
Its been tough being a Muslim this last 10 years especially in the west as the spotlight has been casted even more on Muslims than possibly ever before. However Thank God that there is more of us around that can share the burden that maybe this is unfairly placed on us. This sense of community spirit is personally for me one of the big attractions of Islam.
I need 2 (two) Mattresses size 160cm X 200cm for the beds we will bring from Indonesia. Appreciate any info, thanks.

Australia and Japan, the two top-ranked teams in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), have both opted for under-strength sides as they bid to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2011 in next month’s penultimate qualifying round.
Three-times AFC Asian Cup winner Japan, who only need a draw in Yemen to qualify, have included 13 new faces for the 6 January match.
Australia, who play in Kuwait on the same day, have left out most of their UK-based players, including captain Lucas Neill of Everton, clubmate Tim Cahill and star veteran goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.
