DOHA: The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) will soon introduce a new examination system for private health care practitioners seeking a licence to work in Qatar.
The exams that had been conducted inside Qatar will be outsourced under the new system. The Medical Licensing Committee at SCH will soon sign an agreement with a leading international company, specialising in competency tests, to conduct the examinations, Dr Jamal Rashid Al Khanji, Director of the Department said yesterday.
The new exam system, to be introduced in the first quarter of 2010, is part of the changes being made in the medical licensing procedures in Qatar to make them compatible with international standards.

Swine Flu Qatar
By Qataria78 on Sun, 02/08/2009 - 9:31amA Qatari man who died after he was diagnosed with the H1N1 swine flu virus had been staying in Dubai, according to the Qatar News Agency.
The man was reported to have been obese, which is considered a significant risk factor for the disease. It was Qatar’s first death from swine flu.
The Gulf Times reported that the man had pneumonia and a high temperature when he was admitted to Hamad General Hospital in Doha last Monday.
It quoted hospital sources as saying he had been to hospital in Dubai twice, but it was at Hamad that a diagnosis was made and he was put in intensive care.
Officials working in swine flu prevention at the Ministry of Health were not available for comment.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia confirmed its fourth death due to swine flu.
