PINOY CONTRACTOR ABROAD

Three contractors are bidding to fix the White House fence.

One from the Philippines , another from Mexico and an American.

They go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The American contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. Well,” he says. “I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me.”

The Mexican contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, “I can do $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me.”

The Filipino contractor doesn’t measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers: “$2,700.”

Is Farmville this important??

Hear their cry, Facebook. A slight to India in FarmVille, a game in which users play farmer and mark their territory with national flags,
has stirred a patriotic crusade on the networking portal, with Indians from Bathinda to Barcelona and Kolkata to California, asking the developers one angry question - Why is the Indian tricolour missing?

Facebook owes a huge share of its popularity to the Indian GenNet. With the number of protesters touching 10,000 by Thursday evening - increasing by around 1,000 every day - it's a movement that cannot be ignored, even if the platform is virtual.

Two WoodPeckers

A Mexican woodpecker and a Canadian woodpecker were in Mexico arguing about which place had the toughest trees. The Mexican woodpecker claimed Mexico had a tree that no woodpecker could peck.

The Canadian woodpecker accepted his challenge and promptly pecked a hole in the tree with no problem. The Mexican woodpecker was amazed.

The Canadian woodpecker then challenged the Mexican woodpecker to peck a tree in Canada that was absolutely ‘impeckable’ (a term frequently used by woodpeckers). The Mexican woodpecker expressed confidence that he could do it and accepted the challenge.

The two flew to Canada where the Mexican woodpecker successfully pecked the so-called ‘impeckable’ tree almost without breaking a sweat.

QATAR - A SAFE COUNTRY!

DEFINITION: Total recorded intentional homicides, completed. Crime statistics are often better indicators of prevalence of law enforcement and willingness to report crime, than actual prevalence.

SOURCE: The Eighth United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems (2002) (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Centre for International Crime Prevention)

(Mod Update : Qatar is ranked 81 on the list with only 1 homicide. That's one list we're glad that Qatar is on the bottom of! Full list here)
