Oscar Curse--The Legend Prevails
By fanonite on Fri, 19/03/2010 - 5:40pmOscar Curse: Women who Win Oscar, Lose their Man
Friday, 19 March 2010
Winning an Oscar is a blessing for any actress' career -- but for her love life, the award can be a devastating curse.
In the past dozen years, nearly every woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress has broken up with her husband, boyfriend or lover -- some just months after thanking them from the award show stage.
This week's Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet love dramas are only the latest in a long string of Hollywood heartbreak that goes back to March 1998, when rom-com sweetheart Helen Hunt thanked boyfriend Hank Azaria as she got the award for "As Good As It Gets."
She called him "the very best man I know" and married him later that year. In just six months, they were divorced.
Is lust as important as love?
By Arien on Thu, 04/02/2010 - 11:42am"Lust is perjured, murderous, bloody, full of blame..." Back in the late 16th century, Shakespeare wrote this sonnet while explaining the ‘then-reprehensible’ act. However, the world of love and love-making seems to have turned topsy-turvy since then. Recently, Hollywood actress Charlize Theron sparked the love vs lust debate saying that passion makes up an integral part of her relationship and she just can’t live without it.
Majority of experts also believe that the greatest relationships are a combination of love and lust. Even scientifically speaking, lust, which is driven by our sex hormones testosterone and oestrogen, force us to try hard and woo the love of our lives.
Angelina ‘Beauty icon of the decade’
By Friendd88 on Thu, 31/12/2009 - 9:44amLONDON: Angelina Jolie has been named the Beauty Icon of the Decade in a new poll in the U.K. The multi-award winning actress is ahead of Brad Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston in the list.
Health and beauty retail chain Superdrug asked 3,000 people in the new survey, which sees the "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" Star the envy of women around the world.
Commercial Director for the company, Steve Jebson, told a UK-based newspaper, "Angelina Jolie is not a conventional beauty but her strong character shines through her fabulous features to give her a unique standing in the beauty world."
He added that while Jolie, 34, is famous for her sultry pout, her figure and long thick lustrous hair are what make British women envious.
Woman pays $140K for kiss from Charlize Thero
By Pajju on Sun, 25/10/2009 - 8:29amSAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- How much is a kiss with big screen beauty Charlize Theron worth? Apparently, about $140,000 to one lucky woman.
The Oscar-winning actress took part in the OneXOne charity event on Thursday night in San Francisco, where she took the stage to auction off a two-week trip to her native South Africa to watch soccer’s World Cup in summer 2010.
While the trip itself was a nice prize, the winning bidder also received other extra item for her $140,000 donation – a liplock with the Oscar winner.
And the woman certainly got her money’s worth — the two embraced and kissed onstage for nearly 25 seconds.

Nicosia, Jan 15 (ANI): The Dubai Ministry of Labour has been flooded with thousands of labour complaints, as a very big number of workers and employees have been laid off, or have been made redundant in the wake of the global financial crisis.
The majority of these workers are Indians. Furthermore, it is estimated that about 1,500 work permits and visas are being cancelled in Dubai each day.
Feeling the pinch of global slowdown many companies, mainly in the construction sector, have stopped all new employment and most of them have already laid off hundreds of workers.
