Money spent during recession
By adams.apple on Mon, 11/05/2009 - 5:53pmEveryone is heavily in debt.
Luckily, a rich Russian tourist arrives in the foyer of the small local hotel. He asks to see a room and puts a Euro100 note on the reception counter, takes a key and goes to inspect the room located up the stairs on the second floor.
The hotel owner takes the note in hurry and rushes to his meat supplier to whom he owes E100.
The butcher takes the money and races to his wholesaler to pay his debt.
The wholesaler rushes to the farmer to pay E100 for pigs he purchased some
time ago.
The farmer triumphantly gives the E100 note to a local prostitute who gave
him her services on credit.
The prostitute goes quickly to the hotel, as she owes the hotel for her room use to entertain clients. She pays the hotel owner.

By gregbais on Sat, 04/04/2009 - 8:35am4/3/2009 11:55 AM ET
(RTTNews) - A European Union delegation visiting the Philippines has announced an aid of 10 million euro ($13.4 million) to support agriculture and improve food security in the Southeast Asian country.
The EU has approved the grant as a part of a 1 billion euro fund formed in December to help 23 countries worst hit by economic recession and the rising costs of food.
The food and agriculture grant is one of the various projects in the Philippines, for which the European bloc has earmarked a total of 30 million euros.
Nokia N97
By Saurabh7 on Mon, 30/03/2009 - 9:05pmNokia surprised everyone with the touchscreen slider N97. It’s like an iPhone or a Storm. But dare I say... better? Nokia saw what people want nowadays and adapted. After trying out their first touchscreen on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, the Nokia brainiacs where ready for the next big thing. The Nokia N97 will certainly be the flagship smartphone of Nokia for quite a while. Here are some of its features, which will make you choose it

Chiropractors in Doha
By dmcmanus on Mon, 30/03/2009 - 10:42amI went to the American Chiropractic Centre on WholeSale road this morning. When I made the appointment I was not told the cost of an initial consult and then the follow ups.
They wanted to charge QR700 for an initial consult and QR400 thereafter. I think that amount of money is absolutely ludicrous, shocking!
In the UK the cost is about 45 Euros and in SA it is R250 which is about 25 Euros. And in both countries I went to extremely professional and well qualified chiros.
I would not recommend going there, it is so out of the way anyway. I will definitely try this Dr Sharon that everyone is talking about, at her costs we can afford it for a family of 4!

Chinese collector sabotaged auction !
By britexpat on Tue, 03/03/2009 - 10:48amDid he do the right thing ???? Do the artifacts belong to the people ??????????????
A Chinese collector deliberately sabotaged an auction of two 18th Century bronze animal heads by refusing to pay after 'buying' them at a Christie's sale in Paris last week.
The two heads were part of an elaborate 18th century fountain constructed by European Jesuit priests at the Summer Palace outside Beijing
The heads, which were seized from Beijing's Summer Palace 150 years ago, belonged to the late fashion designer Yves St Laurent and had been cleared for sale by the French courts.
Spring Thaw?
By Hasan Shaikh on Mon, 02/03/2009 - 6:35pmEvery spring, the thawing of the Yellow River threatens lives and property across Inner Mongolia. Ice blocks break free and then pile up further downstream, causing floods and dam bursts. The Chinese army often has to shoot cannonballs at the ice to restore the river's normal flow.
Governments around the world have taken a similar approach to freeing up the frozen banking system: blast away at blockages in liquidity so that banks can resume channeling funds to businesses. But it looks to be a long winter, as many lenders simply aren't ready — or willing — to see their capital dislodged. As much as they may profess to care about corporate customers, commercial banks have made their own survival priority number one.
