Jet Ski riders call for more facilities
By FriedUnicorn on Sat, 08/08/2009 - 3:12pmDoha: Residents in Doha are taking pleasure in soaking up the sun and enjoying water sports on the beaches, but many claim there is a lack of basic facilities and services for water sports.
Visiting the public beach next to the InterContinental Hotel, especially during weekends, is a routine for many residents, who usually show up with friends and family, to enjoy a dip in the warm waters.
Perhaps one of the most prominent groups around these beaches are the adrenaline junkies who line up to lower their jet skies and speed boats to ride the waves around the Doha coast line.

Some 29 people were missing after a vessel operated by a UAE-based group capsized about two nautical miles off Doha coast early yesterday, a spokesman for Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said.
According to official sources, five persons were rescued and one body was recovered while search for the remaining people continued late into the night.
Of the 35 people on board, 24 were employees of HBK Power Cleaning, a Doha-based company. The remaining comprised nine crew members and two employees of a catering company.
