New appointment system at Women’s Hospital

DOHA: The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is introducing a new appointment system in the Women’s Hospital Out-Patient Department which is expected to reduce the wait time to see a doctor.

This new system will go into effect on November 1. All patients with upcoming appointments will receive a telephone call to explain how the new system works.

Wait times for patients are being reduced through three significant improvements to the existing system. First, patients will be able to see the doctor by making an appointment for a time dedicated exclusively for them.

DOHA: The government has cracked the whip on a major shopping outlet for taking consumers for a ride and showing flagrant disregard for the ministerial decision which froze the prices of 104 consumer items of mass use during the holy month of Ramadan.

The outlet is a famous one and has branches in several places in the country.

It has been booked for violating the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Business and Trade during Ramadan freezing the rates of 104 commonly used items, mostly basic foodstuff.

Students, staff left in the lurch by closure of school

DOHA: The future of 170 students and staff members of an Independent School is at stake as the management of the school has suddenly decided to close it, Al Sharq reported yesterday.

The management has put up a notice asking the parents of the students to come to the school and collect their files so they can try for admission elsewhere.

Many parents spoke to expressed anger and said they had no idea where to go for admission of their children at this time of the year when admissions are already closed in all schools.

18 people killed in road accidents in past three months

DOHA: At least 18 persons have died and many were left injured, some of them critically, in road accidents in the country in the past three months, reports Al Sharq.

The Department of Traffic and Patrol Police has urged motorists to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to ensure road safety.

Motorists should particularly abide by speed limits, the Department said urging people to take part in a fresh road safety awareness campaign which has been launched recently.

Giving details of some mishaps, the daily said on April 29 this year, a pedestrian was crossing the road (Street No 36) in the Industrial Area and he was hit by a speeding car.
