Mass nesting begins
An Olive Ridley turtle digs in the sand to lay its eggs on Rushikulya beach, about 140km south west of Bhubaneshwar, early yesterday. Thousands of Olive Ridley sea turtles have started to come ashore over the last two days from the Bay of Bengal to lay eggs on the beach at Rushikulya, one of the three mass nesting sites in the eastern coastal state of Orissa. The mass nesting starts late at night and continues until the early hours.

Real AVATAR - An Indian Tribe Story.

How would you feel if you knew that AVATAR story of Na'avi is actually unfloding in a remote mountain of an Indian State. Well,that's exactly what I found out. Read on and you will be amazed.My comments are below:

The Dongria Kondh reside far from the studios of Hollywood. Its 8,000 members live in little dried mud houses covered with palm leaves, with neither electricity nor television, withdrawn from the world on a mountain of the Orissa region in the most remote reaches of eastern India. Yet, their history resembles the scenario of James Cameron's box-office-record-breaking film "Avatar," to the point you could imagine the movie was based on it.

"Sad how we got more upset about the Na'vi's plight than when it occurs right in front of us."

Shah Rukh Khan - does a Swadesh -Lights up Villages

Shah Rukh Khan -Lights up Villages - Something that he did in his Film "Swadesh"...but this time for real.

Shah Rukh has funded a solar power harnessing project which provides light to 7 villages after sunset.

Banhipal, Ahirajpur, Okilapala, Palachua, Rangani, Denlasahi and Gupti in Kendrapara district of Orissa, India which have benefited from this solar harnessing project which has been fully funded by Shah Rukh Khan.

The project is part of the Greenathon initiative of NDTV called 'Lighting Billon Lives'. Technical assistance has been provided by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).

Each village has been provided with about 50 solar lanterns with a single charging point. The lanterns are charged every morning through solar panels set on rooftops.
