I've just moved to Qatar from the UK and am keen to play football (mainly for fun but potentially competitive).

Can anyone advise where people play and if there is anything I can join.

A Very Good Afternoon to everyone reading this...

As You all know, that QL [C] Cricket Group is been taking a NAP due to extreme hot weather and Holy Seasons, and with a view to reawake the sleeping souls and bring back that Steam and Full Throttle Engergy, I'm quite delighted to announce that we would have a Match under normal playing conditions back under the Sun but this time only thing being its a bit Colder in the mornings or Afternoons out there...!!!

Date: 24.10.2008

Day: Friday

Time: 0800HRS

Venue: QCA Cricket Grounds, Westbay.

Some points to remember (on a friendly note I add):

1) Please leave the Team Management and Team Selection to the Captains and Vice-Captains of the respective Teams.

2) As always, lets try to Have fun but at the same time, that Killer Attitude on the Field.

3) Please remember, that we all have to Enjoy each other's company, and we are there to make new friends and also Play the Game we Love!!!

4) Apart from that, nothing much as you are all pretty much professionals on the field and off the field and lets have a game of Cricket Filled with a lot of Fun, Frolic, Humour, and also the WINNING SPIRITS...!!!

CAN WE HAVE SOME CHEERLEADERS PLEASE, COME ON LADIES...SHOW US SOME SPIRITS WILL YA...MEANIES...LOL!!!

Lets stay calm and cool and have a nice game this time...

PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A FAMILY EVENT AND ALL CHILDREN, LADIES AND THEIR PARTNERS ARE WELCOME OUT THERE TO WATCH THIS GAME...

Iraq Lose Qatar World Cup Appeal

zoom Qatar’s Emerson took the pitch against Iraq on March 26 in a game that Qatar won 2-0. As the naturalized player had appeared for Brazil at a youth level, by FIFA's rules, he was ineligible.

The three points enabled Qatar to progress to the final round of World Cup qualification ahead of Iraq.

FIFA cleared Qatar of any wrongdoing in June and CAS have now supported that decision saying that Iraq submitted documents and the appeal fees too late – 11 days after the deadline.

“The appeal filed by the IFA (Iraq Football Association) is dismissed and the result of the match Qatar-Iraq of 26 March 2008 is confirmed,” CAS said in a statement.

“The CAS has confirmed the FIFA decision which determined that a previous appeal filed by the IFA (Iraq FA) with FIFA was not admissible due to the late payment of the appeal fee.”

After two games in the final round, Qatar lead Group One with four points.

“It’s disappointing, rules are rules, and Qatar broke FIFA’s rules, there is no doubt at all,” Jorvan Vieira, Iraq’s national team coach told Reuters.

“Too many matches have been played already and there is no way the court would make a decision that would mean these matches had to be replayed. It is too late for that.”

Qatar Football Federation secretary general Saud al-Mohammadi said: “We are very happy, we feel that we didn’t do anything wrong. The player himself didn’t tell us about his background…If we had known he had represented Brazil, we would not have taken this risk.
