Typhoon Santi slightly veers south, M. Manila still threatened

Typhoon Santi, which was earlier forecast to directly hit Metro Manila and four other provinces in southern Luzon, veered slightly southward on Friday night in the direction of Bicol and Southern Tagalog regions on Saturday even as Metro Manila remains threatened.

According to the 10:45 p.m. weather bulletin by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Santi was last spotted 30 kms north of Daet, Camarines Norte, moving west southwest at 20 kph.

Asked if Metro Manila remained along Santi's path, Pagasa administrator Dr. Prisco Nilo said that although there was still that possibility, the more likely scenario is that the center of typhoon Santi would pass south of Manila.

Disqualification case vs Erap junked by Comelec

source: http://www.gmanews.t...

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Wednesday it has dismissed the disqualification case filed against former President Joseph “Erap" Estrada, saying such was still "premature."

“Hindi pa nga siya nagfa-file ng (Estrada hasn’t even submitted his) certificate of candidacy (COC), it’s premature," Comelec chairman Jose Melo told reporters.

On Monday, lawyer Oliver Lozano filed a disqualification case against Estrada, saying the deposed leader’s election bid was against the provisions of the 1987 Constitution.

FRAME-UP (MODUS OPERANDI)- FILEX

Just received the email message from my friend sa Pinas and I do not know if this is true. True or not, it is better to be aware and be observant and cautious sa paligid natin lalo na sa mga katulad nating nagbabakasyon sa Pilipinas.

Here it is:

" Mahalagang Paala-ala sa ating mga kababayan na nagsisikap na makapagpundar ng salapi para sa kanilang pamilya.

Narito ang isa sa karumaldumal sa gawain ng mga bayarin na alagad ng batas para sila ay magkamal ng salapi sa masamang paraan.

What's in a name?

What's in a name?
For the Pecpec clan of Ilocos Norte, plenty.
Posted by Howie Severino at 21:55

James Pecpec can't find a girlfriend, Erica Pecpec doesn't want to go to college. But older Pecpecs contented with life in the barrio bear the name proudly, and are confounded by this recent shift in meaning. After all, in old Ilocano pecpec means "full", as in a basket brimming with fruit. And a Pecpec ancestor was a revolutionary who fought with Gen. Artemio Ricarte of Batac. But most of us Pinoys know the modern meaning of "pekpek", and we can't blame James for seeking our help in trying to change his surname through Batac's municipal court. Otherwise, with the teasing he gets outside their barangay, his name chains him to the farm.

Convergys cuts Canadian jobs, adds in Philippines

Business Courier of Cincinnati

Convergys Corp. will eliminate 275 jobs at its call center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, while opening three new call centers in the Philippines.

The Canadian jobs were eliminated because the company lost a customer service contract that the Winnepeg center had been handling, according to a story in the Winnipeg Free Press. Convergys employs about 1,000 at the center, one of 13 it operates in Canada, according to the story.
