DVD to my hard drive-how to?

I have loads of original Dvd's and i would like to save them as a "AVI-format" to my external hard drive. How do i do that?

I have use a program called dvd shrink to get my movie onto my computer-but it remains a .vob file and the program split the file up in small sections. I understand i would some how have to convert them...but what program can i use so that i end up with one single movie and not segments. Advise would be sooooooooo welcome!!!

Does anyone here knows a good repair shop that's specialize in repairs for LCD Monitors, TVs and the likes (as in eletronic repair shop) within Doha?
