India scores low on integrity
By FriedUnicorn on Wed, 18/11/2009 - 9:32amIANS/New Delhi
India has been ranked as low as 84 among 180 countries on the integrity score, continuing to be perceived as a highly corrupt nation in the world, by global corruption watchdog Transparency International in its latest survey.
The ranking means that 83 other countries are less corrupt than India.
“India’s integrity score stands at 3.4 on a scale of 0 (perceived as highly corrupt) to 10 (least corrupt),” according to the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2009 prepared by the Berlin-based Transparency International, an independent organisation tracking prevalence of corruption worldwide.
India’s integrity score last year was the same. In 2007, its score was a notch better at 3.5, says the survey.

.
The US State Department in its annual review of international religious freedom, singled out the Philippines and Jordan for promoting interfaith initiatives and criticizing China and Israel for intolerance.
The president has emphasized that faith should bring us together, and this year’s report has a special focus on efforts to promote interfaith dialog and tolerance,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in Washington.
Clinton came out strongly against laws around the world that make religious defamation a crime, saying freedom of speech and religion should be equally upheld.

By Mokkai Chamy on Thu, 15/10/2009 - 12:27pm!!!! DIWALI WISHES TO ALL QL !!!!
Diwali (Tamil: தீபாவளி; is a significant festival in Hinduism, Sikhism, and Jainism, and an official holiday in India
Adherents of these religions celebrate Diwali as the Festival of Lights. They light diyas—cotton string wicks inserted in small clay pots filled with oil—to signify victory of good over the evil within an individual.
In India and Nepal, Diwali is now considered to be a national festival, and the aesthetic aspect of the festival is enjoyed by most Indians and Nepalese regardless of faith. Kerala is the only state in India where Diwali is not a big celeberation.

By legal_pad on Thu, 17/09/2009 - 9:04amI'll vote for Mrs PM and Mr. Flanostu!
Pm
She is always bringing good points and controversy to any thread, even do some people can't tolerate or digest her straight forward comments. Our Queen complainer.
Flanostu
A man with the ability to deliver a powerful statement in short phrases.
"Sadly, comedians are the canaries in the coal mine for society when it comes to testing freedom,"
Examples:
In the United States, Wanda Sykes can stand within feet of President Obama and crack jokes about him, but comics in other countries would be risking their lives.
In 2006, Walid Hassan, star of the Iraqi television news/comedy show Caricature, was gunned down while driving in Baghdad.

Letter to NEW YORK TIMES, April 15, 2009
It is truly the greatest show on Earth, an ode to a diverse and democratic ethos, where 700 million + of humanity vote, providing their small part in directing their ancient civilization into the future. It is no less impressive when done in a neighborhood which includes de-stabilizing and violent Pakistan, China, and Burma.
