internet speed
What is the average Qtel internet speed for the 200 riyal package ?
I use one that's been given through my apartment and the speed as I checked a while ago was 0.08 MBPS
And its usually this speed allday and just wanted to know if its worth changing

I have contacted Qtel and their cheapest option for a 1 MB internet speed is QR600/month. Are there any other providers out there that can offer me a cheaper price? Any other ideas/suggestions?

Hi guys, Can anyone please share with me the experience of MOZAIC TV?
Hows its internet speed?
I have plans to subscribe for Prime Asia, how much will it monthly cost to me?
Thanks.
Speed Secrets
By johny_boiei on Mon, 24/08/2009 - 10:10amQuestion: How to Increase Internet Speed?
Answer: Increasing Band-Width By 20%
Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates
and interrogating your PC etc To get it back:
Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor.
Then go to: Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates
then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Double click
on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the
'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the
Mobile Broadband: What You Need to Know
By ict QATAR on Tue, 18/08/2009 - 8:11amictQATAR, the Supreme Council for Information & Communication Technology, continues its series of consumer tips, on a variety of telecom issues.
Mobile Broadband
Mobile broadband is the name used to describe various types of wireless high-speed internet access through a portable modem, telephone or other device such as a PC data card, USB modem, USB sticks, dongles, phones with data modems and other portable devices with built-in support for Mobile Broadband.
Various network standards may be used to do this, such as GPRS, 3G, WiMAX, LTE UMTS/HSPA, EV-DO and some portable satellite-based systems.
Mobile broadband allows you to connect to the world wide web wherever you are, regardless of whether you are in a Wi-Fi hotspot or near a phone line.
What's your Internet Speed
By kutch on Sun, 05/07/2009 - 5:39pmJust playing this afternoon.... And asking what's your Internet Speed???
Test from me to Q-Tel using www.speedtest.qa

Test from me to Q-Tel using www.speedtest.net

Test from me to Frankfurt using www.speedtest.net

And what's yours?
I keep having problems with my internet connection. I've had the top package for a while, (an outragerous 400 QR a month) but I keep having the same problems. Sometimes it cuts out and says no DSL connection, it comes back after a while if I turn it off and leave it off. Now the download speed is rubbish. Previously when downloading files I could get up to 450-500 kbs but now I struggle to get 50 kbs.
Any ideas?
I've read some of the previous answers to queris on Mozaic tv. however since most of the queries are quite dated; I thought best to bring this discussion up again;
Assuming the basic Qrs. 250 subscription is what we opt for;
1. How is the internet quality, if we have all the three services enabled simultaneously, would we get a minimum 1 mb download speed?
2. If we do not enable the tv service and use the landline and internet only, will there be a discernable difference in the internet speed.
3. The wifi router that comes with the service, is it only wifi enabled or can we use ethernet(wired) ports on the router to connect to other peripherals.
4. What are the basic tv packages, anything worth watching (english)
Qtel Doubles ADSL internet speed for Free!!!
By moeed on Tue, 19/05/2009 - 10:04pmYes it has happened. A number of my friends got an SMS form Qtel letting them know that their broadband ADSL connection bandwidth has been doubled. I didn't get the SMS but as soon as I came home I ran the Internet Speed Test and lo and behold, my previously 1 MB connection was now showing the below readings!!!

2MB, woo hoo, now I'll be surfing QL twice as fast :o)
The official Qtel announcement is here:
http://www.qtel.com....
I heard that at 15th of May (2 days ago), that Qtel was going to double all internet speeds.
People who subscribed at 512 kb got 1 MB.
People who subscribed at 1 MB got 2 MB.
People who subscribed at 2 MG got 3 or 4 MB.
I still don't have my upgrade? I got the 2 MB package, and I was wondering if 2 MB subscribers are getting an upgrade.
Any people out there who bought the 2 MB one?
Help please.
