F1 Rumours - Mercedes to buy stake in Brawn!

The signs are growing that McLaren and Mercedes-Benz are headed for different futures in Formula One.

The companies had already parted in terms of their joint road sports car programmes, and reports have intensified throughout this week that a similar split is looming in terms of their 15-year F1 collaboration.

Both the German language Blick and Auto Motor und Sport publications report that Brackley-based Brawn GP is set to be 75% owned by Mercedes by 2012.

McLaren has a contract for exclusive works rights until the end of 2011, so until Mercedes can buy Brawn itself, the Daimler AG shareholder AABAR of Abu Dhabi could hold the stake, Auto Motor und Sport said on Thursday.

Is F1 racing a sport?

Is F1 racing a sport?

Or is it "Expensive Entertainment"

This is what Indian Sports Minister Mr Gill is asking:

Barely a day after Force India’s historic podium finish at the Belgian Grand Prix, a war of words broke out between Sports Minister MS Gill and Vijay Mallya on the government’s refusal to acknowledge Formula One as a sport.

While Mallya questioned the sports ministry’s stand against Formula One, an adamant Gill virtually snubbed the liquor baron by calling it “expensive entertainment” and said the government would not change its stand just because of Force India’s performance.

Is a Government based on Tyranny the answer ?

Bernioe Eccelstone seems to think so !!!!!!!!!!

Leaving aside his remarks on Hitler and not taking this discussion into the holocaust... Would you agree ????

Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One chief, said yesterday that he preferred totalitarian regimes to democracies and praised Adolf Hitler for his ability to “get things done”.

In an outspoken interview with The Times, the 78-year-old billionaire chastised contemporary politicians for their weakness and extolled the virtues of strong leadership.

Unmasked: But is Top Gear's Stig REALLY F1 ace Michael Schumacher?

By Lizzie Smith

He walked out onto the Top Gear stage to whoops of delight.

But when the elusive Stig lifted his iconic helmet last night he was jokingly revealed as none other than Formula 1 ace Michael Schumacher.

Jeremy Clarkson had previously promised that the true identity of the fearless test driver would be uncovered on the show - the first in the new series.

In his newspaper column Clarkson boasted: 'As a television moment, it's up there with Neil Armstrong walking on the... corpse of JR Ewing.'

And even after 'the Stig' had removed his mask in front of the appreciative audience he kept up the pretence, asking him: 'What's your real name? It's just too amazing for words!'

Forbes: Pacquiao world's 6th highest-paid athlete

MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao made it to Forbes magazine's list of highest-paid athletes in the world, tying for the sixth spot with basketball phenom Lebron James and golfer Phil Mickelson.

According to Forbes, Pacquiao is the highest-ranking among four newcomers to the list, raking in a total of $40 million in the past 12 months. The boxing star is among the eight non-Americans on the list, which had golf icon Tiger Woods ($110 million) at the top.

"Pac-Man hogged the boxing spotlight over the past year with victories in two blockbuster fights against Oscar De La Hoya in December and Ricky Hatton in May that combined for more than $100 million in pay-per-view revenue in the US," Forbes said in a brief write-up.

Got hit by Toyota HiLux pickup Plate#24911

OK I got hit this morning by a hit and run driver in a double cab (4 door) Toyota Hi Lux pickup. White color with red and gold stripes Reg. Number 24911 It happened just near the Castle Compound round-about across from the old Asian Games athlete apartments. Guy was swerving like mad, like some people often do. They think that are in Nascar or Formula One! He crashed into my right side and puched me into a Hummer H3t, and managed to drive off himself. Police have said they will "look into it" so I am turning to the Qatar Living community for help as I REALLY want to nail this guy. The plate was confirmed by many witnesses. What can I do? Anyone have similar experiences to help me out here? Should I be calling someone other than the police?
