Danish police yesterday charged a Somali man with the attempted murder of a cartoonist whose caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) sparked protests around the world.
The axe-wielding 28-year-old broke into Kurt Westergaard’s home late Friday, screaming for “revenge” and “blood.” The cartoonist hid in a panic room with a five-year-old granddaughter and called the police.
Police said he threw the axe at one officer who arrived on the scene, just missing him, then attacked with a knife before they shot him in the arm and thigh.
He was stretchered into court at Aarhus, northwest Denmark, yesterday wearing a hospital gown and covered with blankets, the Ritzau agency reported.

This may well be the ultimate ode to the globetrotting Indian who, for centuries, has been criss-crossing the world in search of opportunity and adventure — Indian citizens are today permanent residents of all but three countries in the world.
The ministry of overseas Indian affairs has registered the presence of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in 180 of 183 countries of the world. The numbers may vary from just two in Lebanon to almost a million in the United States of America but the fact is that Indians call the whole world their home. It is only in North Korea, Pakistan and Bhutan that not a single NRI is to be found.

Disaster looms in East Africa - Drought
By britexpat on Sat, 03/10/2009 - 1:28pmOnce again Africa faces ruin..........What do we do for the long term ???
Rotting carcasses testify to the scale of the disaster looming in East Africa.
No rainfall for three years has left the Kenyan landscape strewn with animal carcasses
On the plains of Marsabit the heat is so intense the bush seems to shiver. The leafless scrub, bleached white by the sun, looks like a forest of fake Christmas trees. Carcasses of cattle and camels are strewn about the burnt red dirt in every direction. Siridwa Baseli walks out of the haze along a path of the dead and dying. He passes a skeletal cow that has given up and collapsed under a thorn tree. A nomad from the Rendille people, he is driving his herd in search of water.
Hi,
Am searching for an interested investor and partner in an upcoming young food importation business in Doha who we can import various perishable goods such as cabbages, french beans, fruits, beans, vegetables, etc from East Africa. The kind of partner am looking for is one; 1. who can easily market and get orders for the distribution of above foods. 2. one who is interested in getting into a farming contract that produces-exports-distributes to various GCC countries from Doha 3. Depending on the market demand in GCC, a partner who is interested in leasing land tracks of land that we can farm together and export the produce if need be. 4. Also a partner who can source for funding. Feel free to PM me for more details

Unaccompanied Baggage
By Muffin on Tue, 21/07/2009 - 5:10pmI know this was asked before, but could anyone direct me to a cargo agent that does unaccompanied baggage? I mean when you are flying and your extra luggage arrives on the same or earlier flight but without having to pay those airport excess baggage rates?
I'm looking at sending to East Africa.
TIA.

Attenborough 'received hate mail'
Sir David has responded to those looking for God in his programmes
Veteran broadcaster Sir David Attenborough says he has received hate mail from viewers for not crediting God in his nature programmes.
"They tell me to burn in hell and good riddance," he said in an interview with the Radio Times.
Sir David has been making documentaries on the natural world and conservation for over half a century.
He also criticised the teaching of creationism alongside evolutionary science in schools.
In the interview, Sir David said that people asked why his documentaries did not give "credit" to God for the creation of life.
"They always mean beautiful things like hummingbirds."
