Internet access
My friend arrived from Australia on indefinite contract. Has letter from his employer, a reputed company. Has Company ID and Qatar Temporary Drivers Licence. His Resident Permit(RP) is being processed. Approached QTel. They said that they cannot give internet access without RP. Apart from going to Internet Hot Spots are there any alternatives?? Can we start a petition to QTel to offer alternatives if they do not yet exist given that 75% of the population here are in this situation at one time or other?

Im from Spain, my company send me for one month to doha and Im looking for a flat or a studio for one person fully furnished with Internet access, anybody knows were I can find a place like that, A hotel-apartment can be great.
Thanks a lot

I have contacted Qtel and their cheapest option for a 1 MB internet speed is QR600/month. Are there any other providers out there that can offer me a cheaper price? Any other ideas/suggestions?

UK proposes cutting Web access to file sharer
By khemcho on Tue, 25/08/2009 - 9:06pmRepeat offenders who persist in illegally downloading music from file-sharing sites such as Limewire could be blocked from accessing the Web under British government proposals issued on Tuesday.
The government said it was publishing new ideas to speed up the process of tackling unlawful peer-to-peer file sharing to prevent damage to the content industries.
Proposals include requiring Internet Service Providers to take action against individual repeat infringers, including blocking access to download sites, reducing broadband speeds or by temporarily suspending an individual's Internet account.
Hello mods - please give us a musicians group
By crapcircle on Tue, 25/08/2009 - 4:01amI sent a PM to qatari but I assume the admin is busy. He never replied, or mayhaps the message got eaten by the internets. You never know.
Well, we would like a musicians group where we can exchange information on events, shops that stock our tools of the trade, jam sessions, and last but not least, the art of home recording/composition and the myriad free tools available to those of us with computers and internet access. Using the main forums for this is backwards, our topics get buried, searching for them is a pain...thank you for your consideration, have a nice day :)
[mod note - help is on its way]
Technology is Democracy?
By SouthLand on Sun, 21/06/2009 - 12:49pmBridge the digital divide!
I seen on Al Jazeera English this morning that Iran has the highest percentage of Internet access in the Middle East.
See article below:
Why Iran's Twitter revolution is unique
The government's tight control of the Internet has spawned a generation adept at circumventing cyber roadblocks, making the country ripe for a technology–driven protest movement.

ways enjoy work
By tanya123 on Thu, 30/04/2009 - 11:31amits thursday..have fun..and may u all have a good weekend!!!
Ways to Enjoy Work
If you decide to work, you might as well enjoy it. Here are some ways to enjoy your work...
1. Make up your mind to feel good at work = Immediately open all your e-mails on your inbox, then answer all your friends e-mails. Take your time. Sa tingin mo ba bothered and company kung may problema ka?! Pasayahin mo sarili mo!
2. Maintain good and friendly relationships with your boss and colleagues = Do what they’re doing. Kung late ang boss mo magpa-late ka rin! Taragis! Go out and have more fun after work. Life is short, hindi kayang swelduhan ang happiness!
Dear all,
Could some one explain to me the uses of
1. Q tel modem
2. Rooter ( or router- not sure about the spelling)
Basically I wanted to have internet access at all our home computers at the same time ?
Thanks,
Aunt polly
