Good afternoon everyone, just wanted to introduce myself, i should be moving to Doha in the next couple of weeks and wanted to say 'Hi' to everyone and congratulate this site on being such an amazing source of info.

If there are any Colombians in Doha please get in touch. i hope im not the only one.

just to give you guys a quick intro, im 30, Single, no kids, straight and hope to stay in Doha, or middle east region for the next few years. i believe it will be a great experience for my CV considering im a mechanical engineer from Medellin, Colombia.
Been living the past 7 years in the USA (San Diego, Ca and currently Miami, FL) so this next step in my life should be pretty interesting.

What areas would you guys recommend for finding a place to rent, it doesnt have to be too flashy, but i dont want to live in the dumps either. any advice is welcome.

HSBC - online banking & no customer service

If you're moving to Qatar think twice about banking with HSBC. Though the name is familiar in the west that is where the similarities end. The Middle East "version" of HSBC is its own corporate entity and customer services is nowhere to be found. Recently they overhauled their online banking system. In an effort to make it more secure they have essentially made it impossible to log in. There are several questions to be answered on an alpha-numeric keyboard each time you log-on. I made a mistake with one of the three responses required and it blocked me out of my account. I called the HSBC "helpline" and they told me to fill out a form and submit it to an ATM deposit machine and wait 2-3 days for the system to be reset. This is the type of "non-customer service" that I've come to expect with HSBC in Qatar. I'm stuck banking w/ them because my car loan is there and I can't change banks now. So take my advice and bank elsewhere -- you'll be much better off!

If you've had similar problems please share them here so we know what else to expect or to avoid!

Hi everyone! Holidays are over to some of us. As i am now back at my desk. While some are still enjoying until the midweek. The days off had given us time to enjoy ourselves, do things we have planned for a long time or get some sleep or too much of it!

Are you all set going back to normal? Its time to pick up unfinished business and get back to the daily routines. This is quite difficult but we have to move on. Those days are over!

But all work no play makes little johnny a....so here's the question, what are you looking forward in the days to come? Except for the next Eid, lol!

I will be coming back to Doha in a fortnight and am looking for a second hand car- apart from what is on this website are there any other websites detailing used cars for sale Im not interested in dealing with dealers but prefer private purchase as scope for negotiating is greater

all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND,

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily
and recycle.
