*Mind Your Internet Manners*

Just as in your real everyday life, manners are important on the Internet as
well. Although it may seem like you can say anything to anybody for any
reason (and you can, actually), there may still be repercussions to such
actions. Getting slammed (or spammed) with angry emails will be the likely
response from many, or you may be barred from your favorite chat room. You can save yourself a large amount of grief if you follow a few simple rules.

HSMP eligibility for uk Immigration has chang

House of Commons have now issued a Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules – 18th March 2010.

This confirms changes to the Tier 1 General scheme which will take place on the 6th April 2010.

Changes to the Tier 1 scheme appear to be in line with the recommendations by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC), and therefore I can confirm the following criteria changes for any applications submitted on or after the 6th April 2010:

Re-introduction of points awarded for a Bachelor degree

Increase in minimum income requirement. Minimum income £25,000. Maximum income £150,000

Introduction of automatic allocation of 75 points if the applicant previously earned £150,000 + (no degree required)

Invisibility cloak

LONDON (Reuters) - German scientists have created a three-dimensional "invisibility cloak" that can hide objects by bending light waves.

The findings, published in the journal Science on Thursday, could in the future make it possible to make large objects invisible, but for now the researchers said they were not keen to speculate on possible applications.

"For now these...cloaking devices are just a beautiful and exciting benchmark to show what transformation optics can do," said Tolga Ergin of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Transformation optics use a class of materials called metamaterials that guide and control light.

Qatar on the cusp

A lesser Dubai: That's the first impression a visitor gets touring downtown Doha, the capital of the Gulf emirate of Qatar. Dubai (population 1.4 million) has its famous ultramodern skyline and man-made islands, its wild young rich kids, and—since the real estate boom went bust—plenty of empty office space. Qatar (population 1.5 million) has semi-vacant glass towers and its own artificial island, a handsome Islamic museum designed by I.M. Pei, and young men racing through the streets in Ferraris and Porsches.

Mirza Ghalib and Karl Marx

It was an historical encounter between two intellectual giants of the nineteenth century, Mirza Ghalib and Karl Marx. It took Abida Ripley 15 years to fish out the details of their correspondence which reflects the acute contrast of their thoughts.

......

"FIFTEEN YEARS ago when I visited the library of the famous India Office in London, I took out one pale jacketed book belonging to the Mughal era. A wrinkled leaf fell down to the floor. When I picked it up, I was startled. The style and expression of its content appeared to be familiar. The doubt which prevailed over my mind, vanished when I saw the seal and signature of the Urdu poet, Ghalib.
