*Mind Your Internet Manners*

Just as in your real everyday life, manners are important on the Internet as
well. Although it may seem like you can say anything to anybody for any
reason (and you can, actually), there may still be repercussions to such
actions. Getting slammed (or spammed) with angry emails will be the likely
response from many, or you may be barred from your favorite chat room. You can save yourself a large amount of grief if you follow a few simple rules.

In all likelihood, you will not argue anybody to your position.

DO NOT CAPITALIZE ALL LETTERS. On the Internet, all capitals signify you are yelling and will be treated as such.

Using all small letters will indicate you are mumbling.

Pause (and count to 10) before you send anything. This brings up the next point.

Everything you send is permanent someplace. People can post it, keep it for later use or whatever so BE CAREFUL. Sorry, I didn't mean to yell.

Since what you write is the only way people will know who you are (they can't see your expressions, the color of your skin, size of your waistband, or anything else unless you post your picture on the net someplace), your words are the only way to communicate. Poor spelling indicates you are not very bright. The way to fix this is use a spell checker, but be aware this tool will not check usage, tense or syntax. You should still read what you have written before hitting the "send" button, because if you don't, the horse is out of the barn.

Look before you leap. This is simple common sense. When entering a new chat room, watch (I mean read) for awhile to ascertain the mood and discussion. Jumping in too soon may be embarrassing and defy any credibility you might want later.

Use symbols sparingly. There are common symbols which attempt to add emotion to your words. If you think something might sound sarcastic, you may put a smiley face at the end of the sentence, like this :-)

Here are a few more just for fun:
;-) equals wink
:-( equals frown
:-> equals sarcastic
>:> equals devilish
:'-( equals crying
:-o equals surprised
:') equals crying happily
:-0 equals Uh-0h
:-/-a-t-/ equals screaming
:-& equals Tongue-tied
>:-> equals mad
<:-I equals dunce, like in, "sorry, but I don't understand"
:-D equals a big smile

8. Check the word "Netiquette" in one of the major search engines like
Yahoo! and you will find locations that will expound on many of these
principals.

The bottom line is this: Be pleasant, try to get along, and don't give your
opinion unless you are either asked for it or it seems otherwise
appropriate.

When you go online, you take on a persona not unlike the personality you
give when you interact with other people. Given time and effort, you may
become as popular (or more so) on the internet because of your insight,
compassion, willingness to listen, or just because you are a good person.
This is the way we all make friends, whether in the Real or the Virtual
world.

mall family day

Your working the whole week, most of us at least 10hrs a day, six days a week and friday is our only time to relax and unwind.. most of us like going to the malls, see a movie, some dine there, others just looking around. But consequently, malls and i think some parks, are observing this family day friday.. this is so stressful, imagine, u only got ur freedom on fridays. but what can we do? this is their country and that's the rule.. and like adding insult to injury, the mall authorities are giving preference, they will allow u to enter their malls if ur skin is white... "why like this my friend" one guy told the guard at city center one time.. well, cant blame the guards, its their job.. why are they doing this?

[mod note: This has been discussed many times already. Please use the QL search function.]

Pseudo-patriotism: Certainly not the action

Are we really patriotic? Do we care equally for victims of the CST attack as we care about those dining at the Taj’s Wasabi?

----------
Newspapers, magazines, TV channels and even on-line forums are all alive with a newfound furore. Indians of all ages, economic groups and religions are suddenly talking about concepts such as solidarity and patriotism. All of a sudden, talking about starting a movement, all of a sudden so bothered with our government and our politicians. People who didn’t know Shivraj Patil existed are starting Facebook groups called ‘Sack Shivraj Patil’. Very ‘Rang de Basanti’ don’t you think? Being proactive, taking a stand, taking initiative and acting together are all positive decisions but only if implemented in the long term.
If only our country and our people actually believed and lived by the principles and concepts that they are currently obsessing over. It is delightful for anyone to see this sudden enthusiasm until you see through it and realise it is a farce of sorts. Why is it that it takes an event of this magnitude to get people to care? And if it is purely because of this event, as always the ‘spirit of Mumbai’ will make sure that the terrorist attacks will be forgotten soon, life will return to normal and with that, all the enthusiasm will also fade. The same people posting hundreds of notes and creating online groups will once again become blissfully unaware of the looming issues that our country faces and instead return their thoughts and focus onto more pressing concerns such as why the new Gucci collection is late to reach Mumbai.
It is amazing how many times I’ve heard “This country is crap. There’s nothing we can do to change that fact. So we want to leave as soon as we can and never come back.” And yet these are the same people who, to sound ‘politically correct’ talk about patriotism. When ministers and politicians try to gain mileage from this tragedy and sound ‘concerned’ and ‘politically correct’, we’re quick to dismiss it as ‘disgusting’. But when we do the same, it is somehow acceptable.
The people yelling their lungs out about patriotism don’t know a thing about it. Patriotism is not about standing up and showing support for the people of your country only after a terrorist attack. It is about loving your country to a point where you are aware and critical about its flaws; it is about being equally concerned about every citizen; it is about directing your pointed finger of blame towards yourself for a change rather than at politicians and policy-makers. Because in all honesty, are we really patriotic? Do we care about the pollution, bad health care, corruption and myriad issues that plague our nation? Are we even aware about these? Do we care equally for the victims of train blasts who were travelling in the second class bogey as we care about those dining at Wasabi? In our day-to-day lives, are we truly good citizens that behave in a way in which we not only cause no damage to the nation but also try and prevent it?
The dismal truth is that we litter the streets of Mumbai even as we speak about patriotism, we do not respect the hard-working BMC workers who keep our city clean and we ignore the crippling poverty that stares us in the face everyday. And it is also a sad truth that we did not come together this way during the train blasts or any other terrorist attack! It extends beyond our action. According to media reports, the families of victims of the CST attack were made to wait for hours and shuffle from hospital to hospital just to collect the corpses of their loved ones. And on the other hand, the families of the victims of the Taj and Oberoi attacks were not troubled at all and in fact assisted by senior police officers in finding the bodies of their loved ones. So why can’t we have uniformity?
It is an abuse to the whole idea of equality. Because in our heart of hearts, if we believed the lives of those dead in the train blasts and those killed at CST to be equal to those massacred at the Taj and Oberoi, our actions would have been different. It is an uncomfortable truth; one that defies our very constitution, which states that, our great nation is built on the idea of “equality of status and opportunity”.
The Preamble of our Constitution states that we are the “sovereign, socialist, secular democracy of India”. What sovereign nation allows outfits like the MNS to control our financial capital and get away without any judicial action? What socialist nation values lives based on bank account balances? What secular nation is besieged with communal issues so great that it is etched into our minds that this was an attack by ‘Muslim’ terrorists rather than an attack against our nation in its entirety? And lastly, isn’t it a perversion of democracy that we give propaganda enough power to brainwash a billion people and thus stifle our true freedom of thought and expression? If we want to take action, we must start by introspection. We can only act once we realise our own flaws. And when we do, we will be a force to reckon with. One that is united and patriotic.

Late sitting

Infosys chief mentor great Narayan Murthy"s views on late Sitting at office...

It's half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on...
PCs still running, coffee machines still buzzing...
And who's at work? Most of them ??? Take a closer look...

All or most specimens are ??
Something male species of the human race...

Look closer... again all or most of them are bachelors...

And why are they sitting late? Working hard? No way!!!
Any guesses???
Let's ask one of them...
Here's what he says... 'What's there 2 do after going home...Here we get to surf, AC, phone, food, coffee that is why I am working late...Importantly no bossssssss!!!!!!!!!!!'

This is the scene in most research centers and software companies and other off-shore offices.

Bachelors 'Passing-Time' during late hours in the office just bcoz they say they've nothing else to do...
Now what r the consequences...

'Working' (for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of the institute or company culture.

With bosses more than eager to provide support to those 'working' late in the form of taxi vouchers, food vouchers and of course good feedback, (oh, he's a hard worker... goes home only to change..!!).
They aren't helping things too...

To hell with bosses who don't understand the difference between 'sitting' late and 'working' late!!!

Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra working hours.

So, My dear Bachelors let me tell you, life changes when u get married and start having a family... office is no longer a priority, family is... and
That's when the problem starts... b'coz u start having commitments at home too.

For your boss, the earlier 'hardworking' guy suddenly seems to become a 'early leaver' even if u leave an hour after regular time... after doing the same amount of work.

People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labelled as work-shirkers...

Girls who thankfully always (its changing nowadays... though) leave on time are labelled as 'not up to it'. All the while, the bachelors pat their own backs and carry on 'working' not realizing that they r spoiling the work culture at their own place and never realize that they would have to regret at one point of time.

So what's the moral of the story??
* Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME!!!
* Never put in extra time ' unless really needed '
* Don't stay back unnecessarily and spoil your company work culture which will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.

There are hundred other things to do in the evening..

Learn music...

Learn a foreign language...

Try a sport... TT, cricket.........

Importantly, get a girl friend or boy friend, take him/her around town...

* And for heaven's sake, net cafe rates have dropped to an all-time low (plus, no fire-walls) and try cooking for a change.

Take a tip from the Smirnoff ad: *'Life's calling, where are you??'*

Please pass on this message to all those colleagues and please do it before leaving time, don't stay back till midnight to forward this!!!

IT'S A TYPICAL INDIAN MENTALITY THAT WORKING FOR LONG HOURS MEANS VERY HARD WORKING & 100% COMMITMENT ETC.

PEOPLE WHO REGULARLY SIT LATE IN THE OFFICE DON'T KNOW TO MANAGE THEIR TIME. SIMPLE !

Regards,
NARAYAN MURTHY.
---
So tell me dear QLers do you have any in your Qatar office who belongs to this group?
What would you suggest for their evening?

Cheers - catsniper

EXPRESS UR FEELINGS ABOU TRUE LUV

To Love and to Get loved

Find Your Love
What is Love?
=> How to Say I love you?
=> Who Loves You?
=> True meaning of Love
All About Dating
Guestbook
Contact

 True meaning of Love

What is the true meaning of love and being in love?

Love differs from heart to heart; love can be good and can be bad. To love and be loved is the perfect ingredients to happiness but to love and not be loved will be a darkness in your soul. Being in love is like a drop of water after years of draught, it eases your soul’s agonies of life. Being in love is a feeling not all humans will experience. So if you have it cherish.......just love it..BIGSAL
I think love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride; love's ways are ever fair, it takes no thought for itself; it is not quickly made angry, it keeps no accounts of wrong; it takes no pleasure in wrongdoing, but has joy in what is true; love has the power of undergoing all things, having faith in all things, hoping all things. though the prophet's word may come to an end, tongues come to nothing, and knowledge have no more value, love has no end.
The Meaning of Love and being in Love is and this is from my opinion: When two people care for each other so much that they would not let nothing or no one get in there way of being together. And they will go to the end of the world to be with each other and do anything for one another. But no one can explain Love. There is no explanation only what u would call Love.
The person who said-- You love somebody if you care for them more than you care for yourself. You love somebody when you would rather make them happy then your self happy-- you were absolutely right. Love can be described by that. If your own wants and needs don’t matter to you as long as that person is okay, than that is true love
True love is when one cares about someone else's well being as much as one cares about one's own. Making someone else happy is certainly important, and yet one's own happiness in addition to that and as a result of that is what genuinely is true. True love stands together in equality and balance to what is honest, true and caring and not only about romantic love. It is a kindness of heart, soul, and mind. True love can be definite and is also a given, known and reciprocated when two people "share" in it.
To me love is putting up with the arguments with that person and arguing your family down for them. Love is always being there but I don't think when you love some one you should love them more than your self because that is totallu unhealty.
Love is a feeling, an emotion that cannot be explained. Either you feel it or you don't. We call it 'love' because there is no explanation for it. It is not a rational, predetermined action. When you can't rationalize that feeling then you call it love.
Love has no meaning at all! It is the very essence of our being, It is Life itself. "Infinite Love is all there is, everything else is Illusion". Enjoy it! There is nothing else to do :-).
"Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast. It is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails!"
In my opinion love is the great obsession or passion for another sole being. The feeling that you cannot live without them, or you wouldn't imagine a world without them. They also fill you with joy. You even argue with this person, but always seem to get through. You look out for this person, and never let them in harms way. Once you feel that for another person, then you'll know the true meaning of love..

That love is the ultimatum between everything. love is what makes the world spin and what also can make your head spin. if you've never been in love than you don't know what i speak of, but that's what love is. when you're truly in love, your head spins, your hearts skips a beat and everything is perfect. when you're with the one you love, you feel like nothing bad can happen to you. when you're with the one you love, you're home. it's perfection. that's what love is to me.

Yes You are in LOVE, LOVE and LOVE ONLY
