DUBAI — School and college buses in all emirates will be exempted from Salik, or road toll, in Dubai from August 31, §§ has learnt.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) also plans to introduce new regulations governing public and private schools in the emirate and would be meeting principals on Wednesday.

The RTA informed the schools recently that they would be exempted from the Dh4 toll once they submit their bus registration cards to the authority to prove their affiliation to the institutions concerned.

Confirming the initiative, Salah Al Marzouqi, Director of the Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) at the RTA, said: “We have sent letters to all schools and colleges that their buses will be exempted from Salik from the new academic year.

It may be wrong, but I experienced personnaly on this subject.Qualified professionals headding towards UAE. the reason is cost of living in Qatar now matched with cost of living at UAE prime cities. Few of my friends left within the span of 2-3 months and they confirmed that the hike in their package is more than 50%.My concern is that is it a temporary hike to attract people. What you people are thinking? We will get benefitted in long term stay in Doha as you know the living cost are burning like anything.

I would like to know the basic rate for the consumption of water, power, phone & internet per month. Kidly advise us i will be travelling there soon.
Kindly inform about the average food cost.

Qatar Airways taxes are out of control! They have increased significantly in the past few years, well beyond regional competitors.

They need to hear our feedback! I urge you to take a couple minutes and use the letter below as a template to send to Qatar Airways. Feel free to customize as you like. As a frequent Qatar Airways flyer, I am writing to express my frustration with the excessive taxes on Qatar Airways’ tickets.

I can see from various sources that in Qatar salary is very low, everyday they are trying to become more cheaper by hiring Indians, Nepali, Bangali and rest, where as I see room rent very high. I wonder how people are coping with that.

I would like to know if a salary of 50.000 euro a year is enough to live a decent life in a UK city, not London or Dublin. How much is the rent for a decent apartment and how much money would I need for other expenses such as food, electicity, socialising...and all? Thanks!

I am wondering if there is a formal body was set up to receive complaints or act to protect tenants' right especially in getting compensation for disturbances due to construction noises, electrical failure, hassle from construction workers whilst working within the house yard, etc.

I've seen quite a number of new apartments completed and occupied within a few days from the completion date. The question is whether the buildings were fit to occupy and whether they were certified as fit to be used.
