Philippines on high alert for typhoon Lupit

MANILA: The Philippine military deployed boats and helicopters to the north of the country yesterday, as officials warned Typhoon Lupit could cause more devastation after two storms claimed nearly 1,000 lives.

The typhoon was not due to hit the main island of Luzon until Thursday, but authorities were on full alert as the region was still struggling to recover from the twin storms that caused massive flooding and deadly landslides.

“We have been pre-positioning food and transportation assets in areas likely to be hit by the typhoon,” Defence Secretary Gilberto Teodoro told reporters.

The navy said it had sent 18 rubber boats, as well as trucks, amphibious vehicles and helicopters to northern areas of Luzon.

ENOUGH - I'm off to join the Australian Navy

Goodbye dear friends...I've had enough of these constant religious arguments on QL.. I've decided to go and join the Australian navy ...:o(

An investigation is under way in Australia over claims that navy sailors competed with each other to bed their female colleagues for cash prizes.

According to Channel Seven news, sailors on board HMAS Success put a cash value on each woman's head.

Sleeping with a female officer or a lesbian, or having sex in a strange place, won more money, the report said.

The Defence Department confirmed that a number of individuals had been sent back to Australia for interviews.

HMAS Success, which has a crew of 220, is currently on exercises in South East Asia.

Spain grabs miles of British waters - Ba$###

Time for us to send in the navy methinks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They've tried invasion, diplomacy and downright skulduggery to grab a piece of Gibraltar during the past 300 years.

But now the Spanish have played their trump card by laying claim to 20 square miles of sea around the Rock...in the name of the environment.

And it seems to have worked – for the moment, at least. For the EU has granted Spain legal rights over British waters surrounding Gibraltar.

But the move has sparked protests from Britain and the Gibraltar government and led to a confrontation between Royal Navy and Spanish warships.

China helping Sri Lanka against Tigers.

A new strategic partnership in the making ???????????????

On the southern coast of Sri Lanka, ten miles from one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, a vast construction site is engulfing the once sleepy fishing town of Hambantota.

This poor community of 21,000 people is about as far as one can get on the island from the fighting between the army and the Tamil Tiger rebels on the northeastern coast. The sudden spurt of construction helps, however, to explain why the army is poised to defeat the Tigers and why Western governments are so powerless to negotiate a ceasefire to help civilians trapped on the front line.

Natural laws

Great narratives...want to share it. Please bear with me.

STORY NO. 1
AL CAPONE

Many years ago, Al Capone virtually owned Chicago. Capone wasn't famous for anything heroic. He was notorious for enmeshing the windy city in everything from
bootlegged booze and prostitution to murder. Capone had a lawyer nicknamed 'Easy Eddie.' He was Capone's lawyer for a good reason. Eddie was very good! In fact, Eddie's skill at legal maneuvering kept Big Al out of jail for a long time. To show his appreciation, Capone paid him Very well. Not only was the money big, but Eddie got special dividends, as well. For instance, he and his family occupied a fenced-in mansion with live-in help
and all of the conveniences of the day. The estate was so large that it filled an entire Chicago City block.

Occupied Jerusalem: The Israeli navy intercepted a ship delivering 60 tonnes of supplies to the Gaza Strip from Lebanon yesterday in the latest bid to defy Israel's blockade of the territory.

The Israelis fired at the ship before boarding it and beating those on board, said reporters from Arab TV stations Al Jadeed and Al Jazeera, who were on the vessel.

Gunfire could be heard in the background of the telephoned reports aired by their stations.
