Philippine Wins Praise For Promoting Interfaith Tolerance
By tasmanian devil on Tue, 03/11/2009 - 7:38amJust Wanna Share This News
.
The US State Department in its annual review of international religious freedom, singled out the Philippines and Jordan for promoting interfaith initiatives and criticizing China and Israel for intolerance.
The president has emphasized that faith should bring us together, and this year’s report has a special focus on efforts to promote interfaith dialog and tolerance,” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in Washington.
Clinton came out strongly against laws around the world that make religious defamation a crime, saying freedom of speech and religion should be equally upheld.
way indian in QATAR
By ikei on Thu, 15/10/2009 - 10:38amMumbai : Oct. 09
This may well be the ultimate ode to the globetrotting Indian who, for centuries, has been criss-crossing the world in search of opportunity and adventure — Indian citizens are today permanent residents of all but three countries in the world.
The ministry of overseas Indian affairs has registered the presence of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in 180 of 183 countries of the world. The numbers may vary from just two in Lebanon to almost a million in the United States of America but the fact is that Indians call the whole world their home. It is only in North Korea, Pakistan and Bhutan that not a single NRI is to be found.

Is the U.S. Preparing to Bomb Iran?
By falcon420 on Thu, 08/10/2009 - 12:37amThe Pentagon is always making plans, but based on a little-noticed funding request recently sent to Congress, the answer to that question appears to be yes.
First, some background: Back in October 2007, ABC News reported that the Pentagon had asked Congress for $88 million in the emergency Iraq/Afghanistan war funding request to develop a gargantuan bunker-busting bomb called the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP). It's a 30,000-pound bomb designed to hit targets buried 200 feet below ground. Back then, the Pentagon cited an "urgent operational need" for the new weapon.
Japan's first lady has been to venus
By sandeepkadian on Fri, 04/09/2009 - 4:14amNow this is one of the most quirky characters I have ever read about.
Japan’s new Prime Minister, Yukio Hatoyama, faces formidable foreign policy challenges in dealing with an expansionist China, a nuclear armed North Korea and a sinister Russia. But he need have no concerns about establishing friendly relations with the planet Venus — his own wife is a friend of the Venusians, having travelled there in a UFO in the 1970s.
The distinctions of Miyuki Hatoyama, 66, do not end there. As well as being a musical actress, cookery writer, clothes maker and television personality, she also says that she knew the actor Tom Cruise in a past life when he was incarnated as a Japanese.

Survey Gives Drivers in Qatar Poor Rating 41%
By Dracula on Tue, 18/08/2009 - 6:40pmBy Riham el-Houshi
.
A survey carried out by Gulf Times has shown that 41% feel that Qatar is the worst country to drive in.Second with 23% was Egypt, and third Saudi Arabia.
The respondents, who had to have driven in three or more countries to be counted, cited speed and lack of respect of traffic signals as the main reasons for their choice of Qatar.
.
“I am too scared to drive here,” said Simona Andrias, a Romanian who since moving to Qatar three years ago depends on her husband to take her everywhere.
“Speed limits do not apply here,” said Taylor Streetor, an American.
“People are not disciplined here, because if you have the right connections, you can get out of paying the fine,” said Pinkie Salvador, a Filipino.

By Barton Gellman
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, August 13, 2009In his first few months after leaving office, former vice president Richard B. Cheney threw himself into public combat against the "far left" agenda of the new commander in chief. More private reflections, as his memoir takes shape in slashing longhand on legal pads, have opened a second front against Cheney's White House partner of eight years, George W. Bush.
North Korea 'executes Christians'
By legal_pad on Fri, 24/07/2009 - 7:40pmNorth Korea 'executes Christians'
By Andre Vornic
BBC News

Human rights groups in South Korea say North Korea has stepped up executions of Christians, some of them in public.
The communist country, the world's most closed society, views religion as a major threat.
Only the founder of the country, Kim Il-sung, and his son, Kim Jong-il, may be worshipped, in mass public displays of fervour.
Despite the persecutions, it is thought up to 30,000 North Koreans may practise Christianity secretly in their homes.
A report by a number of South Korean groups highlights one particular case of a woman allegedly executed in public last month, in a northern town close to the Chinese border.
