Majlis releases DVDs of Alami Award, Mushaira

Qatar-based internationally acclaimed Majlis Farogh-e-Urdu Adab released DVDs of its 13th Alami Farogh-e-Urdu Adab Award and Alami Mushaira 2009 at a function held at Shezan hotel on Friday.

Pakistani Embassy Community Welfare Attaché, Dr Syed Mansoor Abbas Rizvi, who attended the function as guest of honour, officially launched the DVDs comprising award giving ceremony and the grand Alami Mushaira featuring top literary fighures from India and Pakistan.

Mohammad Atiq, Chairman, Board of Patrons, attributed successful holding of the event to officials of the Majlis, members, Board of Patrons and sponsors. He urged Urdu lovers to get copies of DVD which is being offered at cost price.

Urdu-language’s most celebrated global event was held at the Sheraton Hotel over the weekend with a galore of annual awards, book launches and poetry sessions.
The 13th Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award by the Doha-based Majlis Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Qatar (MFUAQ) was followed by two book unveiling ceremonies and an Aalmi Mushaira (international poetry symposium), with poets from Pakistan, India, Canada and elsewhere in attendance.

Qatar- based Majlis Frogh-e-Urdu Adab is holding its 13th Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award ceremony and Aalmi Mushaira [ International poetry symposium] in Doha on next
Thursday,4th June at the Al-Majlis Auditorium in Doha Sheraton Hotel.

Dr. Hamad Abdul Aziz Al-Kuwari,Minister of Culture,Arts and Heritage of the State of Qatar,will be the Chief Guest.A special feature of this year's event is that the Ministry of Culture,Arts and Heritage,State of Qatar, has
extended its co-operation to the Majlis in organising the function.

This was announced by Mohammad Atiq,Chairman of the Board of Patrons of the Majlis yesterday.

Qatar Aalmi Urdu Award

RENOWNED Urdu scholars Jamil Jalbi of Pakistan and Prof Syeda Jaffer of India have joined the list of literary figures honoured by Doha’s Majlis Frogh-e-Urdu Adab.
The two scholars have been named this year’s winners of the prestigious Aalmi Frogh-e-Urdu Adab Award, instituted by the literary organisation.
Jalbi and Jaffer will receive the award, which carries a cash prize of Rs150,000 and a gold medal each, at a ceremony in early June.
Mohamed Atiq, chairman of the Majlis, said the winners were chosen by two independent juries, comprising eminent Urdu scholars. The Pakistan panel, headed by Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi, consisted of Iftikhar Arif, Khurshid Rizvi, Salim Akhter and Tehsin Farooqi. Inamul Haq Jawaid acted as the co-ordinator.
