WHY I WILL VOTE FOR NOYNOY by: WINNIE MONSOD

Villar still refuses to attend the Senate to face questions, and it only reminds me of how GMA used the privilege of her office to avoid questioning. What will happen if Villar wins and more corruption scandals surface?

Hell hath no fury like a woman pissed off...

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – A biology professor at the University of Alabama's Huntsville campus was charged with murder late Friday in the shooting deaths of three fellow biology professors at the campus.

Authorities say Amy Bishop, an instructor and researcher at the university, opened fire during an afternoon faculty meeting...

No students were harmed in the shooting..."

- Sure, it's most probably the blindly egoistic men who drove her to it. I work in an organization that is all men over here and I want to shoot them too - cos they can't see further than their noses and they think they're right all the time.

You May Already Be There

A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.
A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.

"Not very long." they answered in unison.

"Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?"

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families

"But what do you do with the rest of your time?"

"We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take siestas with our wives.
In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs.

We have a full life."
The tourist interrupted,
"I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you!

50 things changed people's lives in a decade

50 things that changed people's lives in a decade

NEW YORK: Was it only a decade ago that a blackberry was a mere warm season fruit? That green was, well, a color, and reality TV was that one show sandwiched between music videos on MTV?

There were, of course, huge political and social upheavals that roiled the world in the past decade, but there also were the gradual lifestyle changes that people do not always notice when they are happening; kind of like watching a child grow older. Here is an alphabetical look at 50 things that changed our lives since the beginning of the millennium:

AIRPORTS: Remember when you did not have to take off your shoes before getting on a plane? Remember when you could bring a bottled drink on board? Political terror changed all that.

First Pakistani to achieve tenure at Harvard

Pakistani professor, Asim Khwaja, has become one of the first Pakistanis to achieve tenure at Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Tenure guarantees academic freedom as well as job security. Tenure is offered to the best and brightest of the professors who show the most promise in increasing the university’s reputation through their research, books and unique ideas. Tenure protects teachers and researchers when they dissent from prevailing opinion, openly disagree with authorities of any sort, or spend time on unfashionable topics. Khwaja’s areas of interest include economic development, education, political economy, and contract theory/mechanism design.

Why Are Women So Unhappy At Work?

Some startling research, at least to this male, reports that women are twice as likely as men to be considering leaving their jobs. According to Sylvia Ann Hewlett, founding president of the Center for Work-Life Policy:

“We found that in the wake of last year’s financial crash, high-powered women were more than twice as likely as men — 84 percent compared with 40 percent — to be seriously thinking jumping ship. And when the head and heart are out the door, the rest of the body is sure to follow.”

So smart companies such as Intel are aggressively acting to retain their female employees by offering career workshops, skill-building classes and courses on managing in a diverse workplace.

SPORTS

Three women were sitting around and bragging about their children.

The first one says, "You know, my son, he graduated first in his class from Stanford. He's now a doctor, making $250,000 a year in Chicago."

The second woman says, "You know my son, he graduated first in his class from Harvard. he's now a lawyer, making half a million dollars a year and he lives in Los Angeles."

The last woman says, "You know my son, he never did too well in school. He never went to any university but he now makes one million dollars a year in New York working as a sports repairman."

The other two women ask, "What is a sports repairman?"

The woman then replies, "He fixes games... you know, hockey games, football games, baseball games, cricket games...."

Optimism about Pakistan‏

Pakistan is being misrepresented in the media. This provoked a thought and I, with some friends, have decided that we should seriously pursue repairing and building of Pakistan’s image by writing in every available platform. I have taken the first step by sending a letter to Gulf Times editorial, which got published in today’s newspaper.

I thought to share it with you.
