Typhoon Santi slightly veers south, M. Manila still threatened
By azilana7037 on Fri, 30/10/2009 - 9:54pmTyphoon Santi, which was earlier forecast to directly hit Metro Manila and four other provinces in southern Luzon, veered slightly southward on Friday night in the direction of Bicol and Southern Tagalog regions on Saturday even as Metro Manila remains threatened.
According to the 10:45 p.m. weather bulletin by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Santi was last spotted 30 kms north of Daet, Camarines Norte, moving west southwest at 20 kph.
Asked if Metro Manila remained along Santi's path, Pagasa administrator Dr. Prisco Nilo said that although there was still that possibility, the more likely scenario is that the center of typhoon Santi would pass south of Manila.

FRAME-UP (MODUS OPERANDI)- FILEX
By pinoyaccountant on Sun, 30/08/2009 - 7:15amJust received the email message from my friend sa Pinas and I do not know if this is true. True or not, it is better to be aware and be observant and cautious sa paligid natin lalo na sa mga katulad nating nagbabakasyon sa Pilipinas.
Here it is:
" Mahalagang Paala-ala sa ating mga kababayan na nagsisikap na makapagpundar ng salapi para sa kanilang pamilya.
Narito ang isa sa karumaldumal sa gawain ng mga bayarin na alagad ng batas para sila ay magkamal ng salapi sa masamang paraan.
Obamas get healthy fare from Filipina chef
By LAMBORJEEPNEY on Tue, 25/08/2009 - 2:12pmMANILA, Philippines - For the White House chef, serving homegrown vegetables straight from the garden is just like preparing food in her native Philippines – healthy and simple.
Filipino-American Cristeta Pasia-Comerford, the first woman and first minority to serve as the executive chef in the White House, credited the first lady for making sure her family eats steamed, organic vegetables from the garden Michelle Obama planted in April.
“Mrs. Obama is a very hands-on person when it comes... to knowing healthy meals for the family,” Comerford told a news conference Monday in Manila.
She is one of three to be honored this year by the Bank of the Philippine Islands as an outstanding Filipino overseas. The honor will be formally awarded today.

Filipino workers suffer as economic crisis deepens
By nicaq25 on Tue, 24/03/2009 - 8:54amSingle mother Maritess Paloma had a simple dream in mind when she left home to work in Taiwan in June 2008 - to save enough money to buy a house in the northern Philippine province of Bulacan.
The dream crumbled when less than five months later, she was laid off from her job at a Taiwan semiconductor factory.
“Our supervisors told us that there were really no more orders coming in so they had to let us go,” she said. “My world almost collapsed then. I asked a friend in Taiwan to help me find new work, but she also lost her job.”
“There was nothing more I could do there so I went back home in November 2008,” she said.
