Qatar to grow food in Kenya?
By jane01 on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 8:55pmThe Guardian is reporting that Qatar is looking to grow food in Kenya:
Qatar has asked Kenya to lease it 40,000 hectares of land to grow crops as part of a proposed package that would also see the Gulf state fund a new £2.4bn port on the popular tourist island of Lamu off the east African country.
The deal is the latest example of wealthy countries and companies trying to secure food supplies from the developing world.
Other Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, have also been negotiating leases of large tracts of farmland in countries such as Sudan and Senegal since the global food shortages and price rises earlier this year.
The Kenyan president, Mwai Kibaki, returned from a visit to Qatar on Monday. His spokesman said the request for land in the Tana river delta, south of Lamu, in north-east Kenya was being seriously considered.
"Nothing comes for free," said Isaiah Kabira. "If you want people to invest in your country then you have to make concessions."
What is meant by udhiyah (sacrifice)?
By Eco-savvy on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 7:02pmDefinition of udhiyah and ruling thereon
Is it obligatory or Sunnah?.
Praise be to Allaah.
The word udhiyah means an animal of the ‘an’aam class (i.e., camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the days of Eid al-Adha because of the Eid and as an act of worship, intending to draw closer to Allaah thereby.
This is one of the rituals of Islam prescribed in the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and according to the consensus of the Muslims.
In the Qur’aan:
1 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice (to Him only)”
[al-Kawthar 108:2]
2 – Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
British Prostitutes Feel the Pinch

Of all the 'benefits' that our East European cousins have brought to Britain: cheap labour, a wave of crime, gang warfare, a determination to capture the car wash market, sex trafficking has had to be by far the most damaging.
Apparently, girls from Eastern Europe are lured and tricked to Britain before being forced to work as prostitutes. Often they are paying off debts to those who brought them here and are forced into a life of prostitution.

The practicalities of British prostitution law
Sir, One aspect of the possible criminalisation of paying for sex (report, Nov 20) is that it will be a blackmailers’ charter. There are parallels with the 1967 law that decriminalised gay men — to protect from blackmail and prosecution those who were having consensual sex in private. Just as with homosexuality before 1967, demand will only be stamped underground, and blackmail, violence and disease will proliferate.
Iraq war my biggest regret, Bush admits
By Default Nick on Tue, 02/12/2008 - 9:17amSo what is next? After killing thousands of people one man can say "Oh it was a mistake" #%$#%&%^*&$#%
George Bush, in a moment of reflection ahead of his departure from the White House, last night admitted that the decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein on the basis of flawed intelligence was the biggest regret of his presidency. The acknowledgment marks the first time that Bush has publicly expressed doubts about his rationale for going to war on Iraq.
In the run-up to the war, the White House adopted a position of absolute certainty that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, basing its arguments on intelligence that was later exposed as flimsy and wrong.

Mumbai Terror: who are the beneficieries?
By nite_rider on Mon, 01/12/2008 - 10:55am1. Unlike other terrorists, Terrorists in Mumbai has not demanded anything? They don't demand release of their co-prisoners nor demanded money... why?? what was their target then?
2. Unlike other islamic Jehadis with beard and turbans, why Mumbai terrorists came with strange look - they wore jeans and T-shirts; clean-shaved and no turbans nor any sign of muslims terrorists we normally watch on media?
3. And the Terrorists attackers did nothing specifically for western, even Israelis, it was sure if they were Jehadists!
Signs of the Qayamat ( Part-2)
By sulmansaeed on Mon, 01/12/2008 - 10:45amThe Signs of Imam Mehdi:
1) He will be from the progeny (decendents) of the Prophet and descendent of Fatimah (R.A). Umme Salama (R.A) reported: I heard the Prophet of Allah saying, "The Mahdi will appear from my progeny, from the descendants of Fatimah." (Abu Daud)
2) His name will be Muhammad or Ahmad and his father's name will be Abdullah. Ibne Masood (R.A) reported that the Prophet said, "If there remains in the world but a day, the mighty Allah will greatly prolong that day till he will send there in a man from me or from the members of my house. His name will be similar to my name and his father's name to my father's name." (Abu Daud)
How to recognize him ?

A judge has condemned an apparent police assault on a soldier who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall, 24, was thrown to the ground by three uniformed officers after a night out with friends and punched eight times.
The violent arrest - caught on CCTV - shocked a crown court judge, who called it appalling.
mark aspinall gets held down by police officers in a manchester street.
But astonishingly Lance Corporal Aspinall was himself hauled before the courts and convicted of assaulting the police.
He was sentenced to 200 hours community service and even ordered to pay compensation to the officers.
The Mumbai atrocity is a wake-up call ......
By MR PAUL on Mon, 01/12/2008 - 10:25amThe Mumbai atrocity is a wake-up call for a frighteningly unprepared Britain
Last updated at 1:58 AM on 01st December 2008
Around the world, people have reacted with horror to the vile atrocities in Mumbai.
For three days, our TV screens transmitted images of carnage and chaos as the toll of murder victims climbed to upwards of 190 people, with many hundreds more injured.
Despite the fact that British citizens were caught up in the attacks, there is nevertheless a sense in Britain that this was nothing to do with us - a horrible event happening in a faraway place.
