London's Heathrow tops list of worst airports
By ikei on Mon, 26/10/2009 - 9:10amSydney : Oct, 24
London's Heathrow Airport has been voted the worst airport in the world for the second year running in a poll of 14,500 frequent fliers while Singapore's Changi was again ranked as the best.
The survey participants, all member of airport lounge programme Priority Pass, rated Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport as the world's second worst with Los Angeles International Airport coming third despite a recent $1 billion overhaul.
"A result that suggests anyone wanting a romantic break in Paris should avoid the Heathrow-Charles de Gaulle route if they don't want to kill the mood," said a statement from Priority Pass.
"Sadly, Heathrow remains firmly entrenched as the airport the world loves to hate," added Jonathan French, head of brand for Priority Pass.

10 reasons why there is genuine hope for RP

1. We are strategically located at the heart of East Asia.
Northeast Asia (Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) and Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos) combined makes East Asia. We are only at most four hours away from every major city in East Asia. If the Philippines were a real estate venture in a commercial area, ours is a location to die for. We can be the shipping and air transport hub of East Asia. We can be the top tourist destination of the region. We can be the cultural center of the region for performing arts.
2. We are No. 1 in aquamarine resources worldwide.

Philippine peso an island of strength in Asia
By nicaq25 on Sat, 28/03/2009 - 6:08pm

The Philippine peso has outperformed most emerging market currencies so far this year and is likely to prove a store of value in 2009 as the economy is less vulnerable to the factors hammering markets elsewhere.
The country is likely to be the only nation in Southeast Asia to post a sharp pick-up in its balance of payments surplus in 2009, partly the result of loans and privatisation proceeds.
It's all about deglobalisation
By nicaq25 on Wed, 11/03/2009 - 12:45pmThis shimmering city-state was the house globalisation built. When world trade boomed, Singapore's seaport at the crossroads of East and West became the Chicago O'Hare of freighters and supertankers.
Singapore Airlines took off despite serving a country with no domestic air routes. Nearly everything manufactured here is made for export. One out of every three workers is a foreigner.
However, as the world enters a period of deglobalisation, Singapore is a window into the reversal of the forces that brought unprecedented global mobility to goods, services, investment and labour.

CARACAS: Venezuela’s state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) said on Friday it had set up a joint venture with Argentinean, Portuguese, US and Japanese firms to tap offshore natural gas fields.
The venture will develop an estimated 28.8 trillion cubic feet of known natural gas reserves in the off-shore Deltana platform and Paria Gulf, with marketing plans targeted to begin in 2014.
The $19.65bn project includes building two trains, or production units, for liquefied natural gas (LNG), each with a projected annual yield of 4.7 million tonnes, as well as offshore extraction and pumping facilities.
