Delhi Best City to live in India...
By whyteknight on Tue, 09/03/2010 - 7:19amNEW DELHI: Despite all its problems, Delhi offers the best quality of life to its residents among all cities in the country, according to a 'Liveability Index' released by CII. In the index, based on surveys, Delhi outscores metros like Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata; NCR towns Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad; and even planned cities like Chandigarh.
Delhi ranks first on parameters like population density, safety, transport, education, job opportunities and accidents. The only redline in the capital's card is healthcare, where the city is ranked 17th. Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kolkata score high on this front.

Women can never say ‘no’ to...
Chocolate fantasies
There’s something about the dark desire that a chocolate invokes in women. Almost 90 per cent women admit they can never say no to chocolate delights. In fact, 70 per cent of Mumbai girls admit they have chocolate everyday in some form or the other, even a mocktail or dessert will do. Delhi women prefer their chocolate melting and hot! Agrees actor Gauhar Khan, “I can say no to an expensive bag, I can do without branded clothes. But I can never resist a chocolate pastry. Chocolate makes me go weak in the knees.”

Indian workers sold like cattle in Saudi Arab
By aslambhaai on Thu, 07/01/2010 - 12:17amJAIPUR: Habib Hussain of Moradabad, who hid in a toilet on an Air India flight from Saudi Arabia to return to his own country, says he did so for his two children, his pregnant wife, and an ailing mother. After his bizarre experience, Habib says he has realised that `aadhi roti' (half a piece of bread) at home is better than one in an alien land. He also said Indian labour is sold like cattle in that country.

Pakistani writers are winning acclaim

Tuesday 17 February 2009 Article history
Pakistani novelists writing in English - long overshadowed by literary giants from neighbouring India - are now winning attention and acclaim as their country sinks into violence and chaos.
Tales of religious extremism, class divides, dictators, war and love have come from writers who grew up largely in Pakistan and now move easily between London, Karachi, New York and Lahore. Since the publication of Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist two years ago, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, a new wave of Pakistani fiction is earning critical acclaim at home and around the world.
