Living in Doha, Qatar

Hello,

I am from India, currently living in Washington DC Metro area for past 13 yrs.

I am expecting a posting in Doha Qatar for a project at New Doha International Airport for about 2-3 years.

I am looking for a 2 bed room Apartment closer to Doha Airport. I prefer Zig-Zag building but open to other multi story buildings also.

I also would like to know the approximate cost for following:

Apartment
A New Vehicle - Either a full size Car or SUV.
Approximate Food Expenses for a Vegetarian.
Other Utilities Cost.
Gas Expense - What is the cost of a Gallon of Gas?

Also, I might hire a person for administration works as we are planning to open an office as a branch office to coordinate for new works in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Oman other than Doha Projects.

Qatar’s big plan..If You Have time read it...

A look at the ambitious project for the state-of-the-art New Doha International Airport.

The New Doha International Airport (NDIA) is a key project in Qatar's national development strategy. The airport will fulfill three critical roles: for Qatar to be the gateway to the world, to be the hub for Qatar Airways and other airlines, and to serve as a cargo and aircraft maintenance centre.

NDIA will be one of the first airports in the world to accommodate unrestricted operations by all commercial aircraft, including the new Airbus A380 airliner that will soon be added to Qatar Airways' fleet. At opening day (2011), NDIA is designed to annually accommodate 24 million passengers, 1.4 million tonnes of cargo and more than 360,000 aircraft movements

Al Wakrah seeing boom times

What used to be a small fishing and pearling coastal town five miles south of Doha’s outskirts has already become the second fastest growing city in an ever-expanding Qatar.
The Al Wakrah municipality, comprising the towns of Al Wakrah, Al Wukair and Al Mashaf are currently seeing unprecedented development never seen before in this former capital of the country, senior officials at Al Wakrah Municipality said yesterday.
“The fact that it is located between Doha and Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) makes it an ideal location for development. And by that I mean development in infrastructure, of housing, and of commercial property,” an official said.
Another feature of the Al Wakrah project will be the South Square Precinct

Well, well, well, I never thought I would live to see the day when a railway network would come to Doha…

Qatar railways (5)

If these artist’s impressions are anything to go by, then Qatar is going to have a rollicking railway network soon. I have been to metro and other railway networks around the world. And these pictures (if it indeed gets made this way) make me feel that they are the best I have seen so far.

Qatar, a best place to invest in the world

Qatar had the highest economic growth in the world in 2009.

The Gulf state's economy will expand with a real gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 9.6 percent, said QNB Capital.

Qarar is one of the richest countries in the world . Qatar discovered huge reserves of oil and gas in the 1940s,that completely transformed its economy.

Qatar offers most of its services to its citizens for free and has no income tax. The amount of money they get from selling oil is more than enough for their small yet thriving economy.

Qatar rail plan on the right track

Qatar is preparing to tender construction work on one of the five rail networks it plans to build over the next 10 years, MEED has reported.
The New Doha International Airport Steering Committee has invited companies to pre-qualify for a contract to build a train station at the $11bn airport that is under construction close to Doha’s existing one.
UK-based Mace International is the project manager for the scheme, known as the Passenger Rail Station Box. The project involves building a railway station terminal for an express airport rail line that will connect to rail and metro stations in downtown Doha and other rail networks.
Sources familiar with the project say the steering committee wants to finish the station in time for the opening of the first Phase of the airport in 2011.
