Being grateful for BARWA housing

This is a recent post on The Gulf Times website. Please read this through and consider how many people would love to live in nice housing, with cheap rent and all of the amenities that the BARWA housing has planned for it's fortunate residents. Don't you think a little patience and gratefulness is needed here? BARWA could have halted the move in and let the residents keep paying high rent elsewhere if they minded driving a bit to the supermarket. Maybe with a bit of planning somebody could pick up the milk on the way home? I am sure all of the workers living in labor camps wouldn't mind to do so. Please people learn to look at those who have less than you and be grateful for what you've been given before it's gone.

Traffic Update-Diversion near Woqod Roundabot

As part of its initiatives to streamline traffic flow near Woqod round about, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) effected partial closure of the area with effect from last night.

According to an Ashghal statement, in order to minimise hardships to passengers travelling from Industrial Area to Woqod round about on the Muntaza Street, only the extreme right lane has been closed. The other two lanes and an additional service road towards Barwa housing are open for traffic.

Commuters who want to pass through the street leading to Barwa accommodation will have to divert their vehicles through the side roads in view of the closure. The closure will be approximately for a period of two weeks.

Is it a financial crisis or what?

DOHA: A financial dispute between the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and a German contracting company has led to the halt in the ongoing February 22 road project which is part of the new Doha Expressway venture.

According to Al Sharq, the German company left the work midway in March this year claiming QR600m from Ashghal.

Salary Structure for expat working in Ashgha

I have some questions. I will soon be going to Doha for interview.

1. Any ideas about Salary structure for Expat Senior Process Engineer working under Public Works Authority (Ashghal)?

2. Normally what's the contract period - 2 yrs or 3 yrs? Is it extendable?

3. People say that Govt. job like this doesn't provide Education allowance for the kids.

4. What is this "Furniture Allowance"? Does Ashghal offer this? HOw does this work? Does this mean that they give you lump sum money to bring your stuff to Qatar by movers?

It seems Ashghal does provide:

•Housing allowance
•Transport allowance
•Health Insurance
•Generous annual leave with paid airfares to country of origin

Thanks. << QL ROCKS>>
